Petey's Life

Please No Zealies......

Hi Pups and Parents,

Mom needs to vent for a
few minutes....

Hi Everyone....Petey's back
leg has been giving out for
the last few days, I know that
it pretty much is old age,
but I worry so much about him
and now me and Norm have been
carrying him up and down the
steps to go out, he seems to be
able to walk fine, I took him
for a walk yesterday and he was
good, it just seems the jumping
up on things and steps are an
issue with him. And of course
last night his Uncle and Aunt
are here for a visit and they
want to go down the shore the
whole time, so we have my neice
staying at our house, she is older
and a dog lover like us. I had two
Rimadly(sp) from before so I gave
him one this morning. He doesn't
seem to be in any pain, as usual
I just over react at everything with
this little guy. Here's another thing
to that could be a factor with his legs
the nieghbor has been letting him out
everyday since my mother-in-law has
been in rehab, and he lets my Aunts
dog come in our yard and they play
so I think he might have over done
it with him too...ok thanks for letting
me rant!! Please no zealies!! Just
knowing that you are here with some
encouraging words for me is all I need!!!
Love you all!!

Your mom loves you sooo much so of course she is worried about your leg. I used my super Sunny powers and found out that if you rest it, you will be better in 2 weeks. I know that's hard for a JRT like you to stop bouncing but try. BOL. Feel better buddy!!!!!

Aww Petey I'm sorry your leg hurts and understand why your Momma is worried..Mommas are like that cuzz they love us so much. When Roscoe and I play my hips hurt after a few fast zoomies so I have to let him know when I've had enough then he stops and licks my face and we go in so I can rest! Sending healing thoughts and prayer to you♥

I hope that some good old fashioned rest and TLC will help you kick that limp.
Maybe your Mom needs to write out a few rules and the reasons for them to the peeps that doggy sit for you, Petey...that way evfurryone will be on the same page as it were.

GET WELL!
Hugs!

Oh Petey, so sorry to hear this. I think you do need rest and NO stairs and NO jumping..mom might have to confine you a little, if he likes to jump on couch put pillows to block so he cant. Does he take any supplements? If not put him on Glucosamine, you can buy the people grade at walmart. Also Chondroitin is good. If he's not on it and you have questions about it send me a FB message. Sending lots of POTP and ((((HUGS)))))

Awww, Petey, we're so sorry to hear your back legs are bothering you! Maybe you just overdid it while playing?
If your Mom thinks it might be age related (like we have with our Socks), the back legs do weaken as we age. Mom took Socks to the vet a couple of months ago and she prescribed PREVICOX for Socks each day & it surely has helped her alot with her back legs. Mom & Dad still have to give her a boost up the stairs or downstairs, but the Previcox has been amazing!
We personally don't like Rimadyl as it had side effects on our Buddy (now an Angel), so maybe you could try Previcox if the problem persists. We're sending you tons of POTP, sweet Petey & Mom and hope you'll be all better REAL SOON!
Lots of love~

Mom has written out some rules for me with the sitter and she just got off the phone with all 3 of them, Im spoiled and need 3 people to look after me and they all said that they would do as Mom asked, so she feels better about that, and they have her cell number.
I will mostly likely be down in the living rm all weekend cause Mom's neice will only sleep on the couch when she is here so I will be with her and not upstairs.
Thank you Sully and Socks Mom will look into that medicine when she calls the vet, Buddy I do take glucosamine, but sometimes I spit it out and Mom doesn't know it till later...she is thinking she needs to find a different flavor for me.
I sure am hoping it's just a "glitch" Zaidie and all ready this morning I got way more treats than normal...
Again Thank you for thinking of me and helping my Mom, she feels better just talking with you all!!

POP Petey! We have known older dogs like our Mister Ben, and cousin Sonny, and legs do get tired as they get older. Glucosamine really helped Sonny, while Ben was better on something stronger for his legs. We hope it's just that you were worn out playing! Take it easy! We are thinking of you and can't wait to see a picture of you in your bicycle carrier - your mom told us about it!

I'm so sorry you're not feelin' well Petey. Rest and the Rymadil are good. So is Cosequin which has the Glucosamine, Chondroitin and magnesium in it. They have chewable tablets you can eat or your mom can crush up to put with your food or they have capsules that you can open and sprinkle the powder with your food also. (Austin hates human food, so mom can't hide it in anything, so she got the capsules especially for him and sprinkles it on his can dog food.)

Tell your mom not to worry too much that you'll have 3 good nurses taking care of you this weekend and can get in touch with her if they need to.

Rest and relax this weekend Petey. Sending lots of POP to you.

Hey Petey's mom: I did the same thing before mom & dad went on vacation to Florida a few weeks ago. Mommy had us out in the yard running & playing and suddenly I was limping really bad. And, as is typical with our moms, mine worried like crazy about leaving me while I was limping. She gave me some pain meds leftover from Nugget's surgery and, while she was on vacation, I got better. Our inhouse petsitter told her I wasn't limping anymore and mom was able to enjoy her vacation. We hope this is all that is happening with you...some tender loving care will make it all better. We love you guys!!
