Arrival Story: My husband and I, sadly, had to have our dalmatian put to sleep due to kidney failure. I was going insane and wanted a puppy. I saw her picture on Petfinder and the rest is history!

Bio: According to the Heritage Humane Society in Williamsburg, VA, Recchi was rescued by animal control when she escaped from backyard confinement. She was the last of her litter to get away and was in pretty bad shape. By the time I had found her, she had spent half of her life at the shelter and they were concerned they were going to have to put her down. I didn't even look at any of the other dogs. From the moment I saw her picture. She was mine. The staff at the shelter was elated we were interested in her. They were calling her "Petunia". Yeah, she's not exactly the flower type. Being devout hockey fans, my husband and I were going to name her Neely, after Cam Neely who played for the Boston Bruins. Recchi, however, had another name in mind. She would not answer to Neely and I started calling her "Mommy's Little Wrecking Ball" She thoroughly enjoys running into things and knocking whatever she can over. From that, came Recchi. The Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup that following Spring, and Mark "The Wrecking Ball" Recchi was an essential member of that team and their Championship. His style of play and name suits her perfectly.
