Arrival Story: I (Christa) grew up with ridgebacks and wanted one, but didnt think that I could afford one, as most are upwards of $800. One day, I was browsing through the classifieds and saw an ad for Ridgeback pups,$300. I called to find out the age and sexes of the pups, and the woman said that she had 2 males that were 8 weeks old. I figured that they must have had some sort of flaw, as even rescue dogs cost more. That weekend, Louis and I went to check out the pups and possibly buy one.
When we got to the breeder's house, we saw the pups, and they were show quality and ADORABLE! She told us the story of how the due date was miscalculated and the pups were born a week earlier than they expected, during a very cold time. The mother crawled into their shed and whelped the pups, but laid on top of them to keep them warm... unfortunately, she smothered 3 of the 5 pups. Hank, however, was the runt of the whole litter, and one of the survivors. He was the pup who kept approaching me and licking my leg, and trying to jump onto my lap and into my arms as I was squatting/sitting down, so I had to have him... his brother was a head taller!
So we paid the $300 for my little sweetheart, and we left for home... he cried the whole way and sat on my lap.
Once we got home, we showed him around and made him a comfy bed until we got him a crate... and we have loved him like he is our son since April 3, 2004.

Bio: We referred my Friend KC to the breeder, Becky Davis, and she is now the proud mother to Pablo, Hank's half brother.
