Hi all, today is my second birthday and I have grown to be a fine dog! Mom and Dad say I am beautiful and they are happy that finally I'm house broken!
Alot has happened since I came to live with Mom and Dad. First of all the sad part, my sister Sophie was hit by a car and died two days after Christmas 2006. We had lots of people staying with us during the Holidays and someone didn't close the people door in the garage and Sophie went out by herself. Mom says we had a Guardian Angel with us cause me and Emma didn't follow Sophie like we usually did. It was the saddest day ever and it took us months to get on with our lives. Me and Emma didn't even know how to play without Sophie because she was alpha and bossed us all around. All we did was mope. Mom and Dad were so sad they cried every day for months.
Gradually things got better. Mom began to get back to herself and started to do things with us again so we had a very nice summer. We went to the park for picnics and walks many times and we love it. There is a shallow creek and minnows to chase. It was a very hot summer and the breeze was nice and there was lots of shade. We also went down to the river and watched the ducks and checked out what's going on in town. Dad likes to take us for car rides with the windows down so we can hang out the window and smell the wonderful smells. We have carseats that we are harnessed to so we can't fall out and Dad goes to places where he can drive slow, just for us. Can you say SPOILED?
Last month we drove to Mt. Hope, Ohio to pick up my baby sister Shailee. Mom wanted another pup and she always gets one from rescue. I didn't want a sister, I like being the baby, the ONLY baby. I try my darndest to get between Shai and Mom or Dad. They say I'm jealous, whatever that is.
Wow, I gotta go, I think Mom is getting ready to take me to Petsmart to buy me treats and toys. happy Birthday to ME ME ME !
See ya,
Love Oscar

Mom had been on the internet checking out Halo's site and she saw me. I looked to cute and I was so tiny Mom and Dad decided they wanted to add me to the family.
They drove to Cleveland Ohio to get me. I remember the look on Mom's face when she first saw me, she couldn't believe how tiny I was. Dad picked me up and never put me down the whole time they were there. He kept calling me Daddy's Boy.
Sophie and Emma (my sisters) came with them. Emma was so happy to meet me but Sophie acted like she didn't even see me.
The ride home was long and I slept most of the time, next to Emma, cause I was scared.
We stopped to eat at a burger joint and that was fun. We sat on the tail gate of the explorer and ate our burgers then we played in the grass under a tree for a bit. I think I might like these people.
We finally get to my home. My very own home!
When we first went into the house this fuzzy thing Mom calls Missy met us at the door. This is another sister, the cat. She looked at me as if to say "GEEZ, not another one!"
I sniffed her and she just turned and walked away. I'm sure if cats could, Missy would have rolled her eyes. I found out later that Missy thinks dogs are stupid! Mom says that I'm the only puppy that Missy hasn't slapped, she must like me more than she puts on.

Sometime in October (we think) a litter of puppies was born. No one was excited, it's just another litter of puppies born to an exhausted female in an Ohio puppy mill. A cash crop, a comodity, all about a dollar bill.
By December this litter was ready to go to auction to be sold to another mill for breeding, until they no longer can and then are destroyed.
It was Christmas eve and HALO (Havanese rescue) was able to obtain two of these puppies with high bid. They are frightened and filthy and one of them is sick.
Oscar, known as Quasi at the time, was the runt weighing 2 lbs. and he was sick. His hair was falling out and he wouldn't eat. If he had gone to a miller he would have died within a few days.
The Angels at HALO worked with him for weeks to get a bacterial infection under control and to get him to eat. At one time they had to literally shove food down his throat. His hair loss was due to the lack of nutrition in his early stage.
By the grace of God Quasi began to get well, his story and picture was put on Halo's website, he was up for adoption. His weight was at about 3lbs. He had become a very outgoing and fiesty pup.
