Arrival Story:
We decided that we were ready for another dog & checked out the Humane Society website. We saw a picture of Chianti (then called Flower) & her 2 sisters, Bambi & Lulu. After deciding that we liked what we saw, we packed up 'Kotah & went to check them out.
Bambi & Lulu were already spoken for & we really liked Chianti because she was so calm & kind of shy. We met w/ her in the Puppy Room & after awhile brought 'Kotah in & watched them together. She was very respectful of him & after sniffing her, he ignored her.
We decided to make her a permanent part of our family.
Bio:
Since she was from the pound, she didn't know anything about living in a house. She couldn't walk up or down the stairs. Doesn't know how to get on the couch (yet), slips on the hardwood floors, can't figure out how to push doors open & thinks that a folded up blanket on the floor is the ultimate.

Mom & Dad brought home a new kitten a couple weeks ago. They got him @ the Humane Society. He is a 3 month old Tabby & they are calling him Romeo.
It took me a while to be able to get close to him, I think he was afraid of my big ole head. He would run & hide under the furniture in the room he was staying in.
Mom brought me in for a few minutes every day for about a week & he eventually warmed up to me. I SO wanted to play w/ him & would tremble trying to be a good girl when Mom told me to wait & be gentle.
Now we are friends! He likes to ambush me & he likes me to play chase w/ him. I'm being very careful w/ him 'cause I know he's a baby.
I'm so glad Dad & Mom decided to get me my own kitten. I know we're going to be the best of friends forever.

Wow does life change in such a short time!
Chianti has mastered a great many things in the past week.
up & down stairs
getting on the couch
getting on the bed
know when to put on the brakes on the harwood floors
jumping on the porch swing
getting in & out of the doggie door
fetching a ball
making 'Kotah play w/ her
and finally...figuring out what those creatures are that can jump on top of the TV stand & having enough willpower not to chase them.
Whew! It's been exhausting but well worth it!

For the first time today, Chianti stayed in her kennel for the whole day while we were @ work.
After work we sat out on the front yard & introduced her to the active Border Collie across the street who's name is Lola. Chianti was definately overwhelmed. She just laid on her back w/ her tummy exposed & let Lola sniff her. Lola wanted to play but Chianti too shy to play.
She also met some neighbor kids & did very well w/ them. She loved it when they pet her & closed her eyes when they rubbed her ears.
Housebreaking is going well, she goes outside most of the time. I still get up w/ her @ 3:30am to have her go potty.
She couldn't be any cuter & we couldn't be any happier.
