His full name is Binkola Lucky Dracko B Jr. When he was a little pup he was out in the backyard and several boys from next door shot me twice with a bbgun. To this day he still has them in his side. A year ago Binkola had something wrong with his spleen and the vet wanted us to put him asleep. We COULD NOT do that so we took him home and bought him Ensure. He didnt want to drink it but we fed it to him with a dropper. A year later he is his normal self again!

Bink's Final Day

My dog Bink, which is 16 years old, has not eaten since at least Monday and he has not been very perky for over a month. As we were walking out the door yesterday morning to go to school Bink got really perky and wagged his tail right before we left the house. Then I went to Laura’s house so that we could walk to school and I didnt think much about it. After school I walked to Laura’s house as usual and my grandpa was already there to pick me up. I hurried in the car because I was curious to how Binkola, my dog, was feeling. My mom called me and told me to call her right when I walked in the door because she wanted to see how Bink was too. My grandpa drove so slowly, he always drives slowly but today he was even slower. Once we got to my house I jumped out of the car, got the mail, and I rushed inside to see Bink. I dropped all of my stuff in the laundry room and opened the door to the kitchen. I walked inside and called Bink’s name because I always say hi to him when I get home. I looked at him and he was lying on the floor on his side by the refrigerator. He had thrown up on the floor and his eyes were open. I didn’t believe that he could be dead so I put my hand on his stomach and shook him a little, he was cold and he wasn’t moving. I ran outside and told my grandpa, “I think Bink is dead.” We went inside to see and he was. My grandpa covered him up with a towel and went back to his car. At that time I was calling my mom so I could tell her the bad news. I called her work phone and her cell phone over ten times. She never answered. Finally I calmed down and sat in the car with my grandpa. He talked to me about how good of a dog Bink was and about all of the dogs that he had had. After a while my mom called back and I told her that he was dead and she immediately started crying. She left work then too. I waited for, what seem like hours for her to get there. After she got there my grandpa left and we walked inside. I started crying again too. Once my dad got home we talked for a little while about Bink and then, to get my mind off of things around our house, I went to church. I got to church right on time and I told Tobin, my youth minister, that I needed to talk to him. He said, “No, I don’t want to talk to you.” I knew that he was joking but that still wasn’t very nice to say. I just knew that with my luck that Tobin was going to talk about death or something like that, but thankfully he didn’t. After the service I went outside, where Tobin was, and talked to him. Once I told him that my dog had died while I was at school yesterday he was probably thinking why he said that he didn’t want to talk to me earlier. We talked for about five to ten minutes, he gave me two hugs, and I went home. In the car my mom told me about what happened at my house when I was gone. She said that my dad had cleaned up the kitchen, given Bink’s body a bath, and that he had dug a three foot hole in the backyard. When I got home we all went into the backyard and had a little funeral for Bink. We put him on his bed, laid a towel over him, put him in a box, and my dad set him down in the hole. My dad put his head facing the house so that he can always watch over us. Then all of us help put dirt on top of the box and said a prayer. After my dad finished putting all of the dirt on the box, my mom put a concrete paw print, which my mom and I had made last Christmas, on the dirt where he was. She also put one of his squeaky toy bones on the dirt by it. I went inside and I had to get started on my homework even though I did not want to do it at all. After I did my homework I went to bed but I couldn’t sleep because the only thing that I could think about was Bink. This morning when I walked into the kitchen for breakfast I thought that the kitchen was way too clean, and it was. Even though Bink didn’t make much noise it still seemed really quiet around there. When it was time to leave for school this morning my mom was running behind a little bit so she told me to turn off all the TVs, turn off the lights, and to put the gate up; then she realized that we don’t need a gate anymore. Right when we were walking out the door she said, “Bye, Squirt.” Squirt was my nickname for him because he always made a mess in the kitchen. It is going to take a long time for all of us to get used to not having a dog around. I guess by Bink wagging his tail when we left he was saying his final goodbye to us.
