Arrival Story: We decided it was time to get a female in the mix, so I wasn't the only female in the house! We went to Orphans of the Storm (which is the same place we got Sasha's brother, Capone). We had already found Sasha on their website and thought she sounded great. Once we got to the shelter, we immediately asked for Sasha. She came out from her cage and seemed like the hyperest dog I had ever come in contact with - which is tough to imagine because Dre was so hyper when we got him. I immediately turned to my boyfriend and told him that maybe she wasn't the right dog for us. She looked at me, as if she knew we were goign to send her back, and immediately curled up in a ball between my legs. Right then, I knew there was no leaving without her! She came home with us that day and is now a part of the family! She has since calmed down a little bit. After being locked up for 9 months, who wouldn't be excited to get out?!?!?!

So, when mommy and daddy first got me from the shelter in July, mommy says I was skin and bones. When she took me to the vet, the doggy doc informed her I had three different kinds of worms! Eww - Gross! I was instantly put on medication (so was Capone, just to be on the safe side). Mom and Dad ended up treating us for worms a second time, just to be sure that all of the worm remnants were gone (even though Capone most likely didn't even have worms). Well, three months later, I am worm free!!!! and have put on a few pounds! They think I had worms for a long time. I never knew I could feel this good! I feel like I am reliving my childhood. I know worms can be a scary thing - my mom still cringes whenever someone brings it up - but I am living proof that any dog can get through it! It's so great to be healthy. My advice to all of the youngins out there - get yourself tested occasionally! Parasites are bad news! Good thing my parents knew what they were getting themselves into when they adopted me from the shelter. I just feel bad for all of my old friends at Orphans of the Storm.... I mean, not only do they not have real homes (with humans), but they don't even know what kinds of things are living inside of them. I know how lucky I am and I make sure to give mom and dad kisses everyday! Back to my point - Be sure to bring that stool sample into the vet! haha - who knew talking about poop could be so important!
