Cats. Then people. Then Food.
Dogs without etiquette. Please. The Lady sniffs FIRST. Really! Don't be uncouth!
Torrey doesn't really know what toys are. She does like to play toss with live Guinea Pigs, though.
Anything that Mom doesn't catch her eating.
The Cat Walk! All around the hoodie to visit her steady cat pals. And Dog Beach and Fiesta Island.
Making you feel wonderful.
Mom was volunteering at the animal shelter and met me after I had been there over a month and had just been released from medical. The vet said I was malnourished, fearful, post-natally depressed and couldn't walk very easily. Mom tried to get me to feel better so that someone would adopt me, but when she was successful with that mission and heard that someone was going to adopt me, she cried like a baby, poor girl. But the adoption fell through (no doubt my fault because it wasn't the family I really wanted to be with) and my correct Mom rushed to the shelter to take me home, ecstatic, until she got me to her SUV and realized she couldn't lift my 75 lbs. (currently a healthy yet svelte 85 lbs.) of love into our family car, and I was certainly in no condition to jump. She became She-Hulk and hoisted my girth regardless. She knew she couldn't live without me. :)
Mom says that I make her life real and Mom gave me the love and trust I needed to get on my feet , literally, and be the happiest camper ever. Drive by us on the road now in that SUV (aka "Magpie, Torrey's Ride"), and you'll get a glimpse of my very large noggin hanging out my windows, smiling at everyone and letting my ears blow in the breeze!
That was almost three years ago and I have since become a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen and Mom and I work as a Pet-Assisted Therapy team for the Humane Society, visiting seniors, kids, hospitals, etc. During the wildfires in October, we drove our SUV (aka "Torrey's Mobile Office") to the evacuation sites and visited with the evacuees and the volunteers from the Red Cross and National Guard. Mom says I bring such joy to their faces, but if they take a look at my crooked smile, they can see they do the same for me.
Mom says this to make me blush: "I've never known a heart and soul to give as much as she does. I'm so proud to be her companion and she's my very best friend. I'm madly in love with her!" Aw, Mom. You da Mom.
Mom says: "Torrey is the poster girl for Pet Adoption. She was on the short list for euthanasia because the shelter thought she was too fearful, large and disabled to be adoptable and she had sat there in her kennel for two months without any takers. Now she brings unconditional happiness to people who are in need of a smile and a hug, and gives me another look at life, too, from her unconditionally loving eyes. 4 Crazy Dogs was so taken by The Llama and her story that they put her likeness on their line of products, "Opt to Adopt" on CafePress which sends a portion of its profits to shelter rescue organization. Adopt Shelter Animals!! And especially, ADOPT SENIOR MUTTS!!
Further, VIVA LA LLAMA!!!
