UK Woofers meet and greet 09June 15th 2009 8:09 am[ Leave A Comment ] Yesterday we got in the car and drove down to Brampton woods. We got a little lost but found it in the end. Waiting in the woods for us was our friends Caffrey, Bertie , Eddie, Harv, Sadie, Tyler and Teddy. We all went off lead and and walked through the woods. Caffreys mummy Bekka gave us some nice collar charms with our initial on them. I found a human play mate called Ben. Mum had to explain to him I play rough with men. Sorry Ben. We then went to a field with a lake and had a picnic. We played some games Musical sits which angel knocked me out of and potato and spoon race and I was ahead of her for that. I had photos taken with all my friends and gave Ben kisses to say sorry for any hard feelings. We then had the gift exchange we gave a toy cow to Caffrey and he like it alot and Bertie and Eddie gave me some nice treats.
Our 10k walk for battersea dogs and cats homeMay 18th 2009 7:11 am[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ] Yesterday our pawrents took us to Chichester to do a 10k (appox 6 miles) walk to raise money for battersea dogs and cats home. As soon as our walk started the sun came out. There was still lots of puddles and Angel won't walk through them so mum who was holding her lead had to keep a look out. Half way through the walk we stopped so they could try and give us a drink. We both rufused to drink the water but my pawrents were feeling warm and thristy and assumed we must be too so dad offered me his cherry isotonic drink and i was not saying no to that. Even angel had a few drops. Pawrents are so easy to tick. Then they brought out the treats that were given to us by Batersea. We then carried on until we finished our walk. We raised about £75 for dog and cats who are waiting for their forever homes and had a great day.
A walk to remeberMarch 10th 2009 8:45 am[ Leave A Comment ] Angel, me and our pawrents had nearly reached the park. We could hear barking. When we got in we could not see a dog or a human in sight. But then dad spotted him. A white staffordshire bull terrier had been tied to a tree. Our pawrents did not have their mobile phones with them so mum told dad to stay while she went to the vets, which is only a 5 minute walk away. It seemed like she was gone for ages. Nobody came for the dog and he just kept barking. Dad did not understand but he was saying "why did you leave me? somebody help". Mum came back and said "the vets said try and bring him in. If we can't Mark(the head vet nurse) will come down". So dad gave our leads to mum and approached with caution. He was a friendly boy so da unhooked his lead and brought him round. He was about 2 -3 years old and had a deformed front paw with just 2 toes almost like his paw was split in half. Round his neck was a chain that looked like it was made for a motorbike not a dog. He was friendly with us too. When we got to the vets Mark gave us all a treat then made some phone calls. The dog sat their and put his head in dads lap and dad stroked him and said to mum "if only we had the space and the money". He was friendly and neutred and was once someones pet. Animal welfare was going to collect him and take him to a rescue. Mark took him to a kennel in the vets while he waited. He was out of sight but i could hear hi barking again. Mark to me and Angel we are lucky dogs and we don't now how blessed we are. I never knew until today how cruel some human can be.
Healing nicelyFebruary 19th 2009 7:20 am[ Leave A Comment ] I went back to the specialists today for yet another check-up. He says I'm doing very well. A star patient. My scar is barely visible. My summer coat will come in soon and then my fur will all be one lengh again. Then nobody would even know I've had surgery. I've even gone down it weight. I'm 22.1kg. I have to go back in 6 weeks time for my final check-up and then I'm aloud off lead.
On the road to recoveryDecember 5th 2008 1:52 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Well I've been in a lot of pain today but as the day went on I've felt less groggy. Angel has been good and not tried to play with me. I went back to the specialists this evening where I saw all of the nurses that I made friends with yesterday. The vet took my dressing off and that that felt better. My pawrents were a little upset/concerned because when we got home they read a copy of the letter that has been sent to my vet saying I have moderate osteoarthritis and mild hip dysplasia. They are worried maybe Angel could have hip dysplasia too. On a better note they also said "Rocky is a lovely Staffordshire Bull Terrier."
Rockys kneesDecember 4th 2008 2:13 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
Rocky went to the specialist this morning where we were told he needed surgery as the ligament was damaged and would not repair its self. He also has slight arthritis in that knee now as a result. They removed his ligament and have replaced it with a prosthestic one. I didn't even know there was such a thing. The surgery went well and there was no damage to the cartalige. When we went to pick him up they told me while he was waiting for surgery he was a very good boy. They said they normally have trouble with Staffies barking and growling in the kennels. They told me Rocky was posing and stretching? When it was time to take him home he was so groggy he would not walk so he had to be carried out to the car and when we got home he had to be carried in. He is on antibiotics and for tonight a very strong painkiller. He will be on painkillers for at least a month probably longer. The recovey will take 3/4 months. He has a check-up tomorrow.
Check-upNovember 27th 2008 6:53 am[ Leave A Comment ] This morning I went to the vets for a check-up. After watching me sit, stand, walk, trot and giving me an examination he decided that with the all medication and rest I have had I should be better than this and has refered me to the specialist. My appointment is next Thursday.
My knee updateNovember 8th 2008 7:28 am[ Leave A Comment ] Things went well on Tuesday. My x-rays were fine but it does not show the disc's so they could still be damaged. If I don't improve or if it keeps happening I will need key-hole surgery so the vet can take a look. But he said thats in the long term. I got 1 of the results back from my fluids today. Its not a bacterial infection.
My legNovember 1st 2008 10:36 am[ Leave A Comment ] As some of you may know I had some problems with my right hind leg about 6 weeks ago. Well yesterday evening I was in a lot of pain with it. I was taken to the vet todays and he gave me an anti-inflammatry injection and put me on anti inflammatry tablets and also a tablet to help aid the natural healing of the joint. I will have to go back on Tuesday for an x-ray and to drain the build up of fliud under my knee under sedation. If my disc's are damaged I will need surgery to repair them but I'm not sure if I will have that on Tuesday or another time.
The doorOctober 13th 2008 6:31 am[ Leave A Comment ] Yesterday evening I went to visit my grandpawrents. I ran into the living room said hi to grandad then went to run into the garden. But as i ran something stopped me. The patio door. It was shut and I knocked it off the runner. Its broken and my pawrents are going to have to pay for it.
