Please take a moment of your time to read this important message:
Hoochie and Raley are two Siberian pals of mine who were brutally gunned down in Florida, shot 6 times at point blank range right in front of their owner, who was begging for the shooter to stop. Through the grace of God they are alive and on the mend, but could sure use some pals right about now.
You see, the police are stalling by not filing charges against the shooter, hoping the outrage will die down and then they can let it all just fade away. We need people to maintain pressure on the State Prosecutor so that will NOT happen.
Please consider signing the on line petition that has been started, in order to bring charges against this monster.
Also feel free to visit Hoochie's and Raley's MySpace page for frequent updates on their condition.
And finally, here is a page from the ASPCA's
on line community, with the names and addresses of people you can write to, to INSIST that justice is served.
That link also includes a link to a You Tube video, showing the shooting. Thankfully there was a tourist filming the whole thing. Beware - not for the faint of heart.
Thank you in advance for your support.

My mom has a huge heart, and that sometimes places her in a dilemma.
For a while now, she has helped Southern Siberian Rescue by keeping an eye on 3 local shelters and contacting the Rescue if there are ever any Siberians. Luckily, months have passed and Mom has seen no Siberians........until last week.
She saw King late on Weds. nite and her heart dropped. His beautiful smile almost brought her to tears (softie!). After speaking with Southern Siberian and making sure they had room in their foster program, Mom was on her way to pull King out of the shelter by Friday.
He is a big, wooly, grey & white boy around 3 years old. He's skinny for his size, but you can only tell when you dig your hands into all that hair!!! His personality was great, he was submissive to me ( I am the boss!) and put up with Marley bouncing around, pawing and barking at him. He was most comfortable when he was with a human friend alone, which makes sense because he was an only dog. See, King was surrendered by his owner, who due to financial difficulties had lost his home. The owner tried to make things work, but eventually gave King up hoping that this would bring King a better life (if this doesn't make you cry, not much will!)
King was with us all weekend. Mom & Dad were terribly fond of him, but knew in their hearts that now was not the time for us to add another dog to the pack (whew, Marley is enough for me now!) Mom says that she would love to "foster" more Siberians when we have a more permanent living situation, but I don't think she can do it. Personally, I think that we would end up with a pack of 50!!! She just can't say no to a cute doggie face!
Anyway, the point of this story is that even though I was annoyed by the prospect of another dog joining the pack, it made my Mommy feel really good to be able to help. If you get the chance to lend a hand to your local shelter or rescue, in whatever way it may be, do it. The warm feeling in your heart will last forever!

Listen up Dogster pups, this is important!
Huskies are a working dog breed. They are bred to pull and run, run, run, run!!! I love to run, and a few times I have "run away". It's not that I want to leave my family, it's just that sometimes instinct overcomes my warm, comfy world. I want to be wild again, so I just have to go!
One time I ran away and mom looked everywhere for me. She drove all over our area, and then got on the 4-wheeler, riding through the woods yelling my name while tears streamed down her face. Her heart ached and her mind raced through thoughts of where I might be, or who might have tried to pick me up. My grandparents and dad looked everywhere too with no luck.
Eventually it got dark. Mom made flyers and stayed up all night, constantly checking to see if I had come back up on the porch. She thought her heart might break. I hunkered down somewhere deep in the dark, cold woods. I could feel my mom & dad thinking about me and praying for my return. Sometime in the wee hours of the morning, Mom fell asleep on the couch.
After dawn, she awoke with a start and ran to the door. There I was, covered in mud and curled up on the door mat. She held me for sometime while again she cried, this time with joy and gratefulness. I had been gone for a little over 24 hours.
Mom & Dad can only imagine what Blue's family has been going through for the last 6 months....but we are keeping the faith alive. Blue and his family are in our thoughts and prayers every day.
Check out his Dogster page and his webpage. Pass the information along. Blue is out there somewhere thinking about his family and trying to figure out how to get home. Let's lend him a helping paw!!!
Blue, a black and white Siberian Husky (4 year old male, brown eyes, microchipped) has been missing since May 8, 2007 from Brighton, MI.

I have been tagged by my beautiful and wise friend, Lena Malik!!! You should go check her out at www.dogster.com/dogs/98633
Here are the rules:
Each player needs to tell 7 random facts about themselves. Tagged dogs must post the rules in their diary and their 7 facts. Then choose 7 pups to tag and list their names. Let them know by pawmail or rosette that they have been tagged and to read your diary for the instructions on how to play.
1- I was in my pawrents wedding. I escorted my uncle down the aisle and then got super spoiled at the reception. I think I gained 5 lbs that day!
2- I pulled a sled one time with 2 other Huskies at an event hosted by rescue group, Sled Dog Assist of Bristol, VA. We pulled a full-grown man around the park and mom was so proud of me!!! We hope to do it again sometime!
3- My mom trusts me off the leash when we go hiking.
4- I love, love, love, love, love, love snow!!!!!!!
5- I have a baby brother, Marley, who is my new best friend. At first I was a little jealous of him, but now he's my pal for life!
6- I have driven almost all the way across the country (NC to Jackson Hole, WY, and I guess I wasn't driving, just riding!!!)
7- This is a good number! I will be 7 years old on November 9th!
Now, I will go tag:
Quannah
Badger, TDI
Mellow
Dio
Sadie the Wonderdog
Pandora

Hi all,
So this past weekend (Sunday the 14th) I was crowned Ms. Congeniality of the group Husky Heaven. It is an incredible honor and I am so proud to wear the crown! I won because I invited (and they accepted) more new members to our group than anyone else.
It is also an honor to wear this crown during this week, because it is Wolf Awareness Week. I am very proud of my ancestors and hate that they are suffering in the hands of cruel and unfair government ignorance.
I just wanted to share with you my "acceptance speech" and keep checking back because I will add info about Wof Awareness week!
Arrroooo!
This is the first time I have ever worn a tiara, I am speechless.
Ok, maybe not, ahem, let's see:
First, I would like to say that Husky Heaven is the greatest group on Dogster, and maybe anywhere on this thing called "the internets". I have so many great & supportive pals here, it's overwhelming! I could go on & on.........
Second, thanks to my hu-mom for the thumbs, and for getting a concussion so you didn't work as much this week and you let me play at Dogster more. Now that you're feeling better, think we could go outside???
Thirdly, thanks to all the new pals who accepted my invite! Welcome & I hope you enjoy Husky Heaven as much as the rest of us do!!!!
What an awesome week to be Ms. Congeniality, I think I will use my crown to help spread awareness for Wolves and score free dogaritas at the Woof Bar.
Join me at the Pawty Place, dogaritas are on me!
Husky Hugs & Kisses to all,
Dakota Rose

My mom let my brother write this message to our group Husky Heaven, and for once I think the little monster did something that doesn't embarrass me! I think this is an important doggie issue, so I wanted everyone who might see my page to here this:
I have a very important, all-grown-up message today. It is about our cousins, the wolf! (Big bark out to my lovely friend Mi'je)
If you have not done so already, please go to www.defenders.org and click on the link for supporting the PAW (Protect America's Wildlife) Act. Sign the petition and then pass the info on to your friends and family. They need about 40, 000 signatures and only have 15,504.
This is legislation introduced by Rep. George Miller ( I wonder if he has politician hair???) of California and is an effort to close loopholes that allow atrocities (big word!) like aerial gunning of wolves in Alaska.
Ok, 'nuff being a big boy, time to go play....luvs you all!
Husky kisses,
Marley
And of course, kisses from me too!

I don't know what I am going to do with Marley. He embarrasses me anytime we go in public!
Yesterday, at the pet store, I was on my best behavior, as always. You have to make a good impression in public, especially when there are treats involved! But Marley, hrmpf, he was all over the place. He kept wrapping his leash around racks of silly dog clothes and pulling things off the shelves. It was all Mom could do to keep up with him. Mom had to buy all this stuff cause Marley slobbered all over it. The nerve....and yet everyone kept oohing and aahing over him. I don't know what they think is so special, he's a holy terror!!!
The ladies at the pet store did take our picture for a pet contest. Of course I think I will win. I am the most mature, most beautifulest and Mom's best friend, how could they not pick me???
And when I am Pet of the Month, I will not share my title with Monster Marley!!!!
Kisses,
Dakota Rose

I have been Summer-Love tagged by my California pal Tehya! Wooo-wooo!
Here are the rules of the game. Make a diary entry, giving 5 pawsome facts about yourself. Choose 5 pals to tag and list them last. Post the rules of the game. Send your pals a pawmail or rosette telling them they have been tagged to play the game. Write 5 facts and tag 5 friends.
So here goes:
1. I love my kitty friends and mom trusts me with them, even when we are alone. I have 3, one lives in my house and the other 2 live at my momma's horse barn.
2. I love to roll in anything that smells good, even though I always get a bath afterwards. Mom says I stink, but I think I smell like roses!
3. I am getting a brother sometime soon. Mom has started looking and talking to people and says something will work out soon. I'm not sure how I feel about this cause I have been an only dog for almost 7 years....he better be fun!
4. I am on a diet. It really stinks!
5. I am the love of my momma's life. She got me right after she turned 20, so there were times when it was just me and her, and I protected her. Now I have a daddy and he's pretty pawsome!!! They spoil me rotten :)
So now I am going to tag:
1. Mascara (what a pretty girl!)
2. Nana (momma thinks it's so cool she lives in Tanzania!)
3. Demon Flash Bandit (thanks for all the advice!)
4. Angel Zoom Smokey (thanks for the Rosette!)
and last but not least, the most handsome Malamute ever!!!!
5. Bodhi
Much love to all my Dogster friends! Thanks for making me feel at home!
~Dakota Rose
