Arrival Story:
It all started when our family labrador Bonnie was sadly killed on the road. Our little foxy pined for weeks on end and I missed her terribly. In the end enough was enough and my mum drove me to the pound to chose a new dog. Zoe had a very bad start to life. As a young pup she was abused and then thrown over a fence into a dumper bin at the back of a supermarket. The staff called up the local pound who collected her and about a week later I found her. I will never forget the first time I layed eyes on her. She was aprox. eight weeks old, underweight and had a torn ear - probably from the fence which she was thrown over. She was so timid that she was shaking yet it really touched me how she was still eager to be friends. As I knelt down and put my hand against the mesh she slunk up to me, tail waging feebly, licked my hand and placed her paw in it. At that moment I knew she deserved a chance and tearfully placed first option on her. I had to leave her there as legally the pound had to keep her for nine days. On her nineth and last day however I rushed over to collect her, otherwise just a few hours later she would of been put down. My mum drove us home and the whole way Zoe cuddled into me and hid her head under my arm. We took her straight to the vets and luckily she had nothing seriously wrong with her. Then home to meet our foxy Hunter. My father had said I wasn't allowed another big dog but we didn't listen. As soon as he met her he fell in love with her anyway. I named her Zoe because it means Life.

Bio:
I believe Zoe is a Beardy/Huntaway cross (Huntaway isnt in the breeds list but they are a type of sheepdog found here in New Zealand). It took about 6months for my father or any other man to so much as be able to pat her without her wetting herself. Now however she has turned into the one of the most friendliest, calm, gentle and layed back dog you could come across. She is determined to charm everyone she meets - and succeeds. Although perhaps not one of the most intelligent of dogs her loyalty and desire to please has allowed her to do well in obedience and tricks. She has come from one of the worst possible homes a dog could be in and she knows it. Zoe is now spoilt rotten and enjoys every minute of it.

Summer is here!!

The weather is finally hotter and I'm allowed in the pool again! Mum even has bought me a life jacket to help me so I can swim for longer without getting tired. Plus swimmings good for my bad hips and the lifejacket means less effort and more fun!

Its also the season for baby birds, and I'm enjoying my duty of driving the pukekos of the property because they killed some of mums peafowl chicks last year. Unfortunatly they are too fast for me but it is still fun. I got in trouble for chasing the ducks though. As much as I like trying to "fetch" out of the creek mum says I have to leave them alone.

Hunter has been getting too much attention lately so I got in a fight with him yesterday. He needs to learn that I'm mums dog not him and keep away when I'm getting my cuddles!

Unfortunatly mums got another pet starling which I hate. It eats MY dogfood, gets feed every hour and gets more attention than me. It also rides around on mums shoulder and squawks at me if I come too close which frightens me.
