May 5th 2006

Without a doubt, my favorite thing is to have my tummy scratched while I watch TV with my mom and dad. I also love to lie in the sun - gotta work on my tan.

I'm not a big fan of my weekly baths.

Favorite Toy:
I'm a big fan of the plush squeaky toys (I have a bird, a hippo, and a dog), but they don't seem to last very long in my house (see attached photo). My dad just bought a Kong and a Hide-a-Squirrel toy - I can't wait to play with my new toys!

Favorite Food:
I'm not a real foodie and pretty easy going when it comes to what I eat. I'm pretty happy with my daily blend of Nutro Small Bites and Lotus chicken flavored dog food.

Favorite Walk:
I really love walking around my neighborhood and playing with all my friends. On weekends, I can usually be found at the Culver City Dog Park chasing after tennis balls.

Best Tricks:
I can now sit, stay, shake, and go to my crate - however, my best trick is my ability to smile like a human. Oh, and I can now jump through a hoop and play peek-a-boo.

Arrival Story:
It was just another Saturday afternoon at the dog adoption agency - from across the area, I saw a nice young couple on the verge of adopting my terrier friend, Spunky. I knew that Spunky was going to be a little more than they could handle and that I was going to be a better fit for them. I slowly walked up and crawled into their laps. After a few minutes of snuggling they were under my spell and decided to choose me as a new addition to their family. The rest is history... ( ;

My dad likes to say that I'm short on brains and long on looks, while my mother seems to think that I'm primed to take on advanced calculus and musical instruments that require an opposable thumb. We'll see which one is correct...

By the numbers::
Number of pigeons chased = 25
Number of pigeons caught = 0
Number of butts sniffed = hundreds (and counting!)
Body count for stuffed dog toys = 2 (RIP Mr. Boodah Hippo and Dog)

I tasted heaven

You know what heaven tastes like? I always thought maybe it might taste like pigeons (which is why I am always wanting to catch one to try) -- but now I know that heaven tastes like ... Stella and Chewy's raw beef steaks!

Mary, the nice manager at our local pet store, gave mommy and daddy two pieces for me to try. Boy oh boy. I really wasn't a foodie before and now I know why -- I was just waiting for the right food to come along! Forget about those expensive cookies from fancy dog bakeries. Dr Atkin's got it right -- Protein is the way to go.

I wonder if heaven sounds like "moooooo"?

I can sit and shake

Like every Saturday, mommy and daddy took me to Centinela Feed and Pet Supplies -- I said hello to my friends from The Bumper Foundation, and showed off my new skills to Mary -- I can sit, and then shake hands!

Let's see, so I learned two commands in two months. If I keep this up, I see an episode of Late Night with Conan O'Brien, featuring "Jose vs Triumph" pretty soon. We already look like brothers -- I can so take over his job.

Mommy and daddy said, that now I've mastered "Sit and Shake", I can move onto "Shake and Bake". Oh? I bet that's something that Triump can't do?!

I love plush squirrels

New toy came in the mail today --- it's Hide-A-Squirrel!

Mommy used to think those "Baby Einestein" and "Baby Mozart" things were crazy, but the marketing pitch of "intelligent cute toys for smart happy dogs" totally got her. Now she wants to buy the rest of the IQ toys. She wants to train me to be smart enough to get beers from the fridge (and then of course put me on YouTube). Uh huh.

Back to Mr Squirrels (or, squirrely-squirrely, as daddy wants to call them) -- I love, love, love them. Who doens't dream of plush squirrels? And mommy and daddy hide bones and treats in the trunk for me to find. Yum-O (Yes I watch Food Network)

Thanks for the present daddy!
