Arrival Story:
We were looking through the paper for a small dog when we saw an ad for a St Bernard/Am Staff mix. "Wow. Wonder what THAT looks like....? I bet it's huge!" We kept on looking and over the next couple of weeks we kept on seeing that ad. Finally my husband said, "Lets go see it. I'm really curious to see what he looks like." We called the ad and the woman we talked to said that they would prefer to bring him over to OUR house so that they could see where he'd be living if they chose us to adopt him. They brought him over and, after bouncing around us in a greeting that made us feel like his long lost best friends, he inspected the entire house, tried out the size and comfort of every piece of furniture and then went upstairs to our bedroom where he proceeded to paw all the blankets, sheets, pillows, bedspread and matress pad into a pile in the middle of the bed. He climbed into the middle of the pile, turned 3 circles and laid down. All the humans who had just witnessed this, just stood there with our mouths hanging open. "He seems to like you," the woman said. "That's good, cause we like him too." Harley was our dog after that. He was a year old when he came to us.
Bio:
Harley lived with us for a few months in California, and then came with us to Michigan. After my husband died, Harley was my best friend and sweetest comfort. He was the best thing in my life for 7 years, until bone cancer stole him from me at the age of 8.
