That's what mom calls me! She called me that just yesterday when I caught a black salamander and killed it. Funny, a few minutes earlier she was screaming at me to get it when it came in our house, BOL! And, then today mom finds this article in Mother Earth New:

http://www.motherearthnews.com/Healthy-People-Healthy-Plan et/Salamander-Population-Global-Warming.aspx

Seriously, Wild Things, we know the real reason the salamander population is decreasing, don't we!

Bummer

So, Dr. Ashley confirmed it. I’ve torn the cruciate ligament in my right knee. 3 weeks of no weight on my leg (uh-huh), and then 3 weeks of walking only, no running, no climbing stairs, no chasing the nasty squirrels. Man, that means they’re just going to take over the back yard. I mean, Daisy could do a patrol every now and then, but mom’s put a pretty tight rein on her. Mom’s worried that something will happen to Daisy, too. Twiggy had a seizure Saturday, Coco is getting on mom's last nerve because she's always eating Twiggy's food, and now I'm lame. She says Daisy’s the only one without issues – yeah, right! Both of Daisy’s knees are luxated. How bout them issues, mom?

Mom thinks she’s being funny when she tells Daisy to teach me how to run on three legs. She even called me ‘tripod’! How about some sympathy, mom? She’s carrying me everywhere – how embarrassing! The Wild Child Society would revoke my membership if they knew! And I think she's putting something in my food cause all I want to do lately is sleep. I got mom to take me outside just now so I could see if the back yard was still there! Usually, I'm on the porch watching over my domain.

Mom's going to get Dr. Ashley to send a referral to the LSU Vet School so I can begin water therapy there. She says they'll have to do a lot of tests on me at first, but they're trying to help me so I have to let them. I'm going to have to think about that. Nineteen more days, Wild Things. Nineteen more days...

I was tagged!

My dear friend, Sophie, tagged me way last month, but we haven't been on the computer, so I didn't find out until today! Woo-hoo - I hope I'm not too late. Here goes:

You have to tell 7 things about yourself, then tag 7 pals so they can tell 7 things about theirselves! Ready, set, go...

1. I sing to my mom when she drives into the driveway after work. And, I don't stop singing until she opens the door and I...
2. I launch myself into my mom's arms - no matter what she's carrying when she opens the door! I know she'll always catche me!
3. I don't have a tail - just a little bump that makes my mom smile lots when I wag it.
4. My favorite toy is a teeny-tiny teddy bear that squeaks.
5. I love to place chase with my mom - she's slow!
6. I'm very, very curious and if a door is closed, I have to find out what's on the other side.
7. My mom calls me her snuggle bear cause I love to snuggle with her - I'm her favorite!

Okay, that's enough about me. Time to find out about my pals -

My Colorado dude pal - Aten
Teeny, tiny Harley
Cute little Oscar
Sweet Rosie
Cute Sherman
A fellow Schipperke, Trix
and, our newest pal - Eloise Rea Ann Kye!

Have fun, pals!

Just 14 days ago, we had six inches of snow! It was the first snow I've ever seen in my life and mom says it's the most she's ever seen. Today, the temperature was 80 degrees! Woohoo! We were so wishing for warm weather and we got it. Yay, Santa! We stayed outside most of the day today - just laying on the patio, walking around the yard. Mom is bummed because her back is hurt again and there is so much she could have done today if she could walk. I say embrace these quiet days, Mom! All that stuff will be there in the spring waiting for you.

I hope all you Wild Things had a wonderful Christmas and Santa was good to you!

Snow Diary

Today, at 5:00 this morning, mom got me out from under the covers and brought me to the back door. It was snowing, Wild Things! I've never seen snow, much less that much! Mom put my coat on and carried me down the stairs and let me down in the back yard. There was about an inch of snow on the ground then. I had to sniff real hard to find my scents so I could do you know what! BBBRRRR! Mom wrapped me up in a blanket and brought me back inside. By then, the snow was coming down hard. By 8:00, we had at least 4-6 inches of snow everywhere. Mom brought the Princess outside to do her thing and it came up to her belly, he-he! Then Coco - who tried to eat the snow as it fell. Daisy wouldn't go near the back door. She stayed under the covers in bed. The trees were so full of snow, their limbs were touching the ground. A lot of trees had limbs breaking so Mom said we had to stay away from our trees in the back yard. Then around 8:30, the power went out. Oh no! Mom went outside and cut some wood for the fireplace and started a big, roaring fire. Then, it started to sleet and the rain was hitting the windows. Daisy and I barked at that alot. We all stayed in the living room where it was warm. We gave chilling a new meaning, BOL! About 3:00 this afternoon, the electricity came back on and it's a good thing. We were down to our last log. Since then, the snow in the trees melted and they went back to being trees instead of bushes. There's still snow on the ground, and it's going to freeze tonight. Mom went outside and shoveled a path from the door to the steps on the front deck. She said she didn't want to have to do that tomorrow morning. Now, we're all laying on our pillows under blankets while mom updates my diary. We're going to snuggle way down under the blankets tonight!

Stay warm and safe, everyone!

I'll be 21 years old! Okay, I'll be three, but in dog years thats a whole 21 years! Woohoo - I'm legal!! Can I go out with Aunt Brittany like Daisy did, Mom? Bummer - Aunt Brittany works nights during the week. Maybe she'll take me out next weekend. Or, I could be like one of my mom's friends and celebrate the whole month, BOL! Mom says I get a special dinner tomorrow night. And, tonight she's going to let me have half a chicken breast all to myself. Daisy and Coco will be so jealous.

Mom and I played outside for a little while this afternoon. It turned cold here yesterday and the wind is blowing. It was 35 degrees this morning! BBRRRR! We don't like cold weather. Anyway, I had Duck outside and mom kept chasing me to get it from me. I so out-ran her, Wild Things! She's slow! Okay, she's way older than me and has really bad arthritis, but I mean she couldn't even catch me when I ran right past her, BOL!! And, I admit, I had to stop after a while to catch my breath - darned old heartworms. I'll be so glad when they're gone and I can be my wild self again.

The itchies have subsided somewhat, still not gone altoghter. I guess the steroids helped. Mom only gave me antibiotics for a few days this time. And LOTS of yogurt. Mom says after the holidays, we're going to find a new vet and get allergy tested. I hope they find out what's wrong so I can get my fur back. It's still shiny, and feels like silk, but my undercoat is gone and I have dandruff - ewwww! I really needed a bath this weekend, but since it's so cold I'm glad we're going to wait. Mom says she may take me to the doggy spa by her office. Wow! Won't Daisy be jealous! I think that's a pawsome idea, Mom!

Mom gave me my first RMB tonight - it was a bone-in chicken thigh! Woohoo! It was huge! I chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed and when I got close to the bone, I gave mom a couple of crunches to satisfy her, then put the bone down in the grass and walked away. I was tired, Wild Things! Mom says she probably should have given me a drumstick instead so I could get to the bone faster. You think? Then Coco stole the bone, but mom got it back from her and put it in the fridge for me to munch on this weekend.

Then, I got ANOTHER bath! I just got one Sunday, but mom picked up some shampoo that has neem, and coconut oil, and citrus oil in it so she says that may help with the itchies. She put me in her big tub and got in with me! I was surprised! Then she lathered me up and scratched my back for a few minutes so the shampoo would have time to work. There was hair all over the tub. Mom spent a long time in there cleaning out the tub. She says eating raw will help with the shedding, too. I don't know, mom - I am part Schipperke. We shed - LOTS! Then, she tried to give me chicken liver for a treat, but I did not like the smell of that stuff. So I got cheese - I love cheese.

Well, gonna go sit outside on the porch and dry off. See ya, Wild Things!
