Wow!

I just can't believe it, me, Dog of the Day?! It is such a great honor and I'm so surprised! I hope this means I get special treats and dog park time today:-) I'll just have to keep reminding Mom that I'm DOTD until she spoils me even more;-) Thank you for the honor!!!! Hugs, Bonnie

Saturdays with Bailey

Every Saturday, my cousin Bailey comes over to play with me. We used to be on two different foods and Bailey always preferred mine to hers. When she gets here on a Saturday, she always runs to my food bowl and chows down like she hasn't been fed in weeks. Well, we've been on the same food for three weeks now, so when she comes over, she gets upset when she goes to the bowl to find the same food she already gets, BOL! To make matters worse, today when Mommy put down the food in preparation for Bailey's arrival, I ate it all- a whole day's worth of food for me!!! I usually eat in the evenings and prefer to eat only once a day, but I guess I just couldn't resist this morning;-)

My Wedding Day

Today is the day I will marry the pup of my dreams. I'm so excited, I hope I don't pass out during the ceremony. I have looked forward to this day for months and it is going to be so magnificent. Sunny Sunshine is the dearest, sweetest, strongest pup a girl can imagine and I cherish him. We will be joined together, for better or worse, forever.

As I go into today, I pray for Sunny's health and happiness. He became ill last night and was rushed to the vet. The vet thinks he ate something that he shouldn't have eaten. I'm keeping my paws crossed that he gets better soon. Please keep Sunny in your prayers.

My First Earthquake in Illinois!

Wow! Last night, Mommy and I were sleeping soundly when the whole house began to shake and rattle at 4:37 am. It woke us both up and we just laid there confused. I just stared at Mommy wondering if she was shaking the bed and the house, but she was just laying there staring at me. It only lasted a couple minutes and we went back to sleep. It was so neat! I had never experienced an earthquake and the only one Mommy has ever experienced when she was in college in southern IL (near the fault line) was so minor, she didn't feel it. Mommy was glad to find out in the morning that we did, in fact, have an earthquake and it wasn't just me having crazy, active dreams.

Spring Flowers

Well, we've finally got some decent Spring weather here and Mommy has been taking me for more walks! It has been fabulous dragging her down the block and smelling all the new smells and chasing the bunnies and squirrels with Mommy on the other end of my leash. My favorite part has been the new Spring flowers! I stop at every one and I pee on it! I even lifted my leg on one and Mommy reminded me that I am a girl. And, I am a girl, girls love flowers!

Saturdays with Bailey

I just love Saturdays!!! Every Saturday, my cousin Bailey comes over to play with me. When she gets here, she immediately eats my food and barks at Mommy for attention. This usually causes Mommy to give us treats, aka, cookie time. Then, I find a good tug toy, and we chase and tug forever. When I take a break, Bailey cleans my teeth and cuddles with me. After a good nap, we do it all over again! I just love Saturdays!!!

Our Anniversary

Today is the first anniversary of my adoption. It has been a great year with my mommy. I think I've trained her to my likes and dislikes well. Except I can't seem to make her understand that I do not want to be dressed up?!

I was scared the day I was going home. She came to the Humane Society to get me and she drove me home. She was laughing at me when I got in her car, but I wasn't sure why. I just hopped into the passenger seat facing its back and went for the ride. When she got me home, she said I was filthy and tried to bathe me!!!! OMD!!!! She learned quickly that I was terrified of water.

After my first vet visit, we learned I had kennel cough, but I recovered quickly. Then, we realized I had stump pyometra and I had to have surgery. I was reacting to my sutures from my spay, so Dr. Tremble (don't worry, he has very steady hands) put in non-reactive sutures after my surgery. Guess what? Yup, I reacted to those sutures, too! So, I had to go back for a while and let my doctor clean my belly. Then, I was all better! Until mommy went on vacation and I sprained my leg while she was away.

I quickly came out of my shell and made lots of friends at my daycares. I get to play with my cousin Bailey every week and sometimes she stays with us. I love my new home with my bed and my couch and my pillow. I'm glad I picked my mommy last December.
