Arrival Story: We rescued him 3 years ago. All he did was eat everything we owned, and 2 crates. He actually chewed through the bars of the first metal crate and greeted us when we got home! He was also a run-away. He had several families before us. We have a large yard with a privacy fence, but we have to keep him on a tie-out unless we are both outside with him (we do not leave him outside on it alone). In addition to the crate, he ate a hole in our carpet, (trying to dig under the door) ate the wood baseboards in the bathroom, scratched the carpet up from the floor, tore up a couch cushion, and many other things I can't even remember. He hasn't destroyed anything in almost a year, thank God! He has never met a person he did not like. I can take him anywhere. Laertese comes with me when I run errands or visit family. He loves going to the dog park, but he is not that fond of dogs that are larger than him. He is scared of them.
Bio: Laertese came from a kill shelter in Polk County, Florida. He sat there for a few weeks because people thought he was a black lab puppy mix. In actuality, he was a full-grown Dachshund mix. The head of a rescue in Orlando saw him on a visit to the pound, and decided to pull him. He was only a day from being euthanized. She posted a picture of him on the rescue's Petfinder site. My husband and I were in our first apartment, and wanted a small dog to play with Hermia (she was not so sick then.) I saw him on Petfinder on a Friday night, and filled out the application on the computer. That Saturday morning, my loving husband (who worked all night) drove us up to an Orlando Petsmart, where Laertese was. It was pretty far away, and with the traffic it was really bad. I was so stressed out he would be gone by the time we got there. He wasn't. Laertese (named Eastwood) ran up to Hermia and they acted like they always knew each other. I was so pleased because Hermia was very picky. I sat down to fill out his adoption paperwork, and Laertese instantly jumped into my lap and sat there the whole time. He has been by my side every since.

Mom and I walked for a while this morning. I really enjoyed it. Mom hasn't been able to walk for me a little while because it hurts and she waddles (bol!) but the doctor told her to start walking if she wants that furless out! I pooped in someone's front yard, like I always do. Mom said she wishes I would poop near the end of our walk so she wouldn't have to carry my poopy bag the whole way, but I don't listen, he he. It was a bearable 88 degrees today, so not too bad.
I hope everypup had a great day as well.
I will be 4 years old April 25th. : )
Mom remebers when she adopted me, I was 10 months old. It was love at first sight. She saw me on Petfinder.com and her and Dad adopted me the very next day. I was quite a little brat and gave them a hard time at first, but now I am much better behaved. Mom and Dad will be gone on my b-day because it is also Dad's birthday, and they are going to see family. Mom said we will celebrate next Sunday. She's going to bake me a cake, and hopefully we will go to the dog park.

Mom was doing laundry and let us out into the yard, which she can do through a door in the garage. Mom was done with the dryer, so she opened the door to the house to let us back in. She went into the house to finish what she was doing. About half an hour later, she thought she heard my collar. Confused, she went back out to the garage, and found ME! I had been stuck in there the whole time. She felt awful and was hugging and kissing me. She was wondering why I did not cry or bark, then she saw the inside of the garage. I did not cry because I was too busy eating all of the trash bags open. I love trash. Bol. : )
