Arrival Story:
Zanie had a long journey before arriving at his forever home. He is absolutely the sweetest dog I have ever met and is such a polite gentleman that it's hard to understand how he ever ended up at the dog pound. Luckily for him his charming personality found him a home at a Border Collie rescue where he waited for years for someone to realize what a great guy he was. Unfortunately the lady who ran the rescue could no longer take care of the dogs and Zanie was again sent on his way to another rescue for senior dogs where he was finally adopted to his forever home by me. When he got to the senior rescue, he was immediately diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which had been neglected to be treated for an extended period of time. The doctor said he was on death's door, but luckily with treatment he recovered although with permanent damage to his rear legs and a dulling of his senses. Zanie is also partially deaf and has very poor vision resulting in some quirky but cute personality traits. Like hopping when he runs, running after a ball in the wrong direction and being afraid of tile floors. Nonetheless, even with all his ailments and an estimated age of about 17 years old, Zanie is a very happy dog and it's a joy to know that his final years will be filled with the love and happiness that such a sweet dog deserves after all the years of waiting patiently.
