Likes:
Quiet naps, kisses and pets. He also likes to sniff the other dogs.

Pet-Peeves:
He tends to get the other olddogs all stirred up then stay out of the fracas.

Favorite Toy:
Gus prefers snacks and cuddles to toys.

Favorite Food:
Spanish rice, chicken and cheese.

Favorite Walk:
On the grounds of House of Puddles. Very slowly.

Best Tricks:
Starting to give little kisses. And he has a very powerful BAROO!

Arrival Story:
Gus was dumped after a lifetime of neglect but he was rescued and now he's a permanent resident of House of Puddles. He is heartworm positive and may have pneumonia, but we are taking good care of this poor, skinny guy and he's getting healthier and happier every day. Recently he's started coming out of his shell and loves quiet kisses and cuddles on the couch. **Update: Gus successfully finished his heartworm treatment and is on track for neutering in early 2008!**

Bio:
Gus is a permanent resident of House of Puddles, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit sanctuary for senior and special needs basset hounds and basset mixes in Frederick, Maryland. Since 2002 HOP has provided a permanent, loving home for over 40 hounds from basset hound rescue organizations. HOP's seniors range in age from approximately 10 to 18 years. Some of the health issues our hounds have faced include significant physical deformities, spinal injuries, blindness, deafness, cancer, organ failure, diabetes, arthritis, severe skin allergies, and cognitive, temperament and aggression issues. There are never enough homes for old or sick dogs. HOP helps senior and special needs basset hounds and basset mixes who have no place else to go. Visit our House online to find out how you can help these deserving old bassets. Thank you!

Fairy doGparents:
I am so lucky! I have a Fairy doGmother, Cat Rudert of Basset Hound Town! Are you a resident of Basset Hound Town? Check them out online and tell the Mayor, Chaps, that Rudolph sent you! Basset Hound Town has a Vlog! Check it out! I also have a Fairy doGfather, Cat's friend Kip who has his own basset, also named . . . Gus! Each had a big paw in helping to save me! Thanks Cat and Kip!
