Arrival Story:
Since no one knew his name, Jasper was named for the city he was rescued in--Jasper, Georgia. Jasper's front legs were very deformed (fiddle-fronted) but it never slowed him down. Jasper suffered from an untreated case of glaucoma but despite the pain and blindness he had experienced in his previous life, he was very sweet and loved to cuddle. Jasper passed away from a nasal cavity tumor in 2007. He was loved and we miss him every day.

Bio:
Jasper was a permanent resident of House of Puddles until he made the journey to Rainbow Bridge in 2007. House of Puddles, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a sanctuary for senior and special needs basset hounds and basset mixes in Frederick, Maryland. Since 2002 HOP has provided a permanent, loving home for over 40 hounds from basset hound rescue organizations. HOP's seniors range in age from approximately 10 to 18 years. Some of the health issues our hounds have faced include significant physical deformities, spinal injuries, blindness, deafness, cancer, organ failure, diabetes, arthritis, severe skin allergies, and cognitive, temperament and aggression issues. There are never enough homes for old or sick dogs. HOP helps senior and special needs basset hounds and basset mixes who have no place else to go.
