Our new friend and other things.

Lots has been going on in Lubbock.

Mom got back Saturday night and we were very happy to see her. Until she went back outside to get her stuff from the car... and walked in with another dog.

Miles and I were so excited to see mom that we didn't mind so much - but the new one wasn't having any of us.

Apparently, she ran up to the porch when mom was coming back in the house. And now she's crashing here until they can find her parents. Though we aren't quite sure it's going to happen since she had no tags or microchip. I can't understand why a dog would leave home without her tags. I think they make my collar much more exciting.

Anyway - she looks just like me - but not really. She's quite a bit smaller and she's black and tan. Mom said that's what a "mini" dachshund really looks like. Then she told me that she thought I was still the most gorgeous dachshund ever and I felt better.

We finally all hung out today and played in the yard. Miles and I might actually like her a little bit.

When mom got back from Colorado she had some scary news. As Miles mentioned - she wants to move up there. And now we really are. Her interview went well and they offered her a job.

So in a little over a month - mom will be packing up all our toys and we'll be off. I'm happy we're getting there in the summer. I don't care how many times she tells me I will be okay in the snow - I don't think I'm going to like it.

She also said that we'll have a new friend to come and walk us when she is at work. Apparently being an "adult" means she'll be away from home more.

I'm still not sure how I feel about that.

Tomorrow... Miles and I have to go to the vet. We aren't that happy about it but mom and dad insist it will be over soon. We're getting microchips because mom isn't convinced that our rabies tags and ID tags are safe enough. We're also getting our rabies shots.

It's going to be a long day.

My new bandana.

Mom and Dad finally found something that fits me. I got a bandana. Mom thought I might be feeling left out since Miles has had one since we went to get groomed. It's denim and Mom says I look gorgeous with it on. Not that I'm not gorgeous all the time, of course.

It's supposed to snow tonight or tomorrow so I've decided that I'll just curl up and get warm now. I'm not fond of dragging my tummy through the snow. It's not easy being so low to the ground sometimes.

Our new house.

We just got back from a lovely winter vacation in sunny Houston. We got to visit dad's family for Christmas so we were excited. We got a bunch of neat stuff. We especially liked our dogloo and the warm pad gma made for us.

When we got back to Lubbock we had another suprise waiting for us. A new house. It's a bit bigger than our old one and a lot more peaceful. And the best part about it is that mom and dad are living together again. I'm so happy to see dad every day now and not have to wait for once a week visits.

Miles and I spent a lot of time outside today because it's actually kind of warm. He ran around like an idiot chasing a stick. I prefer to sit in mom's lap or find some warm spot to sun in. I don't understand why he insists on being so active when he can indulge in leisure time like I do.
