Arrival Story:
Balko grew up in Oregon, on a farm just outside of Portland. He lived with his breeder, mainly in her kennels with pasture running time in the morning and evenings and shared time with his human in the afternoon. He was a star show dog, but not destined to continue his line, so as he came to the end of his show career his breeder wanted to place him in his forever home where he could have his own humans he didn't have to share. :-) That's where I came in...after having to send my other dog Lilo off to my parent's pack I was on the hunt for a new companion, but didn't have time for a puppy again (see Lilo's bio...she was quite a handful!). Balko was just over 2 years old and such a sweetheart. I officially took him on a trial basis, but I'm pretty sure the trial was over after the drive home from Portland. We've been bonded since day 1 and do almost everything together!
Bio:
Balko and I just had our one year anniversary and every day I feel like he is a gift. A true Weimy, he's amazingly loyal, loving and adaptable. He's my favorite, running, hiking, lounging, napping, snacking, everything partner. He and Lilo met for the first time this last Christmas, and Lilo finally met a dog faster than her! He is adored by everyone he meets and everyone always comments on his human like emotions and behaviors. On walks he likes to carry his own leash and just walk beside me, this always garners lots of attention and comments. I didn't teach him this, he just picked it up on his own. When he's at home he's in love with his fuzzy bone and likes to just cuddle. We still hit the trails every weekend and watching him run full speed through the woods after squirrels is one of my favorite things. :-)
