"This is Cal Tech. They used to let us run around all over the big lawns and jump in the fountains. Then they found out we were clogging up the filters with our hair, so we were banished off leash. We still walk there. Lots of trees, flowers and critters."

This is our Civic Auditorium. It is home to many award ceremonies. The Emmys were here for 25 years. It is all decroated up for the Latin Music Awards. Music and dance performances fill the auditorium year around.

This is the Central Library. It is all dark wood and Andulsian like inside. If you stand in front of it, you can see the Civic audtiorium 6 blocks away. Along those blocks are other civic buildings in the same architecture. When Mom is inside she sneezes

Every November a pack of whackies descend on Pasadena for the Doo Dah Parade. It was started as a parody of the Rose Parade, but has grown a life of its own. Spectators toss tortillas and spray silly string on the marchers. Anything goes, except no horses

Bio:
You probably know of Pasadena California because we throw this big parade and football game every New Years Day, called the Tournament of Roses. But Pasadena is much, much more. It is a city known for its fabulous architecture, its stately homes, its gardens and civic pride and veddy proper citizens. It is also the home of Cal Tech and the Jet Propulsion Lab. We are located 10 miles NE up from Los Angeles, freeway close to Dodger Stadium, the Music Center, Staples Sports Center and the business center of downtown Los Angeles. Which makes Pasadena a natural place for Captains of Industry, and CEOs, not to mention, just plain folk to live. We also have our share of movie folk, who want to live quieter lives than offered on the Westside. We are 45 minutes from skiing, we have hiking trails that start right here and go to the top of the mountains. We are minutes away from mountain resorts, camping and other recreation. Another 40 minutes will land you in the desert. A half an hours drive in another direction will get you to the beach, (but then you have to find a place to park). BOL. We have no industry of our own, but many companies make their headquarters here including Parsons, Avery Labels and others. We have an active art colony and a some music studios. As well as several performing arts venues. The area original was inhabited by the Hahamog-na tribe, a branch of the Tongva (part of the Shoshone language group. After the Spanish conquest, what is now Pasadena became part of a Spanish land grant named Rancho del Rincon de San Pascual. When California became a state in 1848, the then owner was allowed to keep his holdings. As the years went by parcels were sold off. The next big thing was in 1873, an Indiana physician seeking a better place for his patients with respiratory problems discovered the area. That brought on a whole influx of people from Indiana seeking to breath free. They needed something to call the place, so decided on Pa sa de na, which means "of the Valley." I couldn't cover everything in Pasadena, so please enjoy a stroll through my neighborhood of my home town. Everything you see is within walking distance of my house.
