Being brushed and pet on the tummy and behind the ears
Spending the day with mom and dad and then having them leave, but I only cry for a few minutes before I settle down in my crate with my Kong.
Leopard print plush squeaky bone
Peanut butter (and peanut butter doggie ice cream)
I love to go the the Walsh dog park and to run see my friends in the field by my house.
I know how to sit and can somehow magically open doors (only sometimes when I really put my mind to it). I will go to agility training and learn so much more!
My parents have been looking to adopt for a very long time. They finally met a dog named Pammie from Chicago's Animal Care and Control. They were not sure what breed she was but think she was some kind of terrier mix. They were so eager to adopt her and completed the paperwork on a Saturday. Pammie needed to be spayed and they were supposed to pick her up the following Monday. The next day, Mom and Dad went to PetSmart and bought a crate, bowls, food and toys.
Within an hour of being home from PetSmart the vet from the city called to say Pammie had bloat and was gravely ill. The city will not adopt out any animal that is not in perfect tip top condition. Mom and Dad were devastated. The next week was filled with ups and downs for them. The vet said that they found an organization who had their own veterinary staff to take Pammie and do the best they could to save her then give her a job as a helper dog.
Still distraught over the loss of Pammie, Mom and Dad made their way to a PAWS event on Michigan Ave. in Chicago. They must have pet and/or played with fifty dogs but none of them pulled their heartstrings enough to adopt.
The next day they looked at the Anti-Cruelty Society and still did not find the one for them.
When they were just about to give up hope they decided on one final try. On Thursday, June 14, 2007, they went to visit the Anti-Cruelty Society once again. There were a few adorable dogs up for adoption but when they saw me (and I saw them) it was love at first sight.
Mom and Dad took me into the court yard to spend some time with me and within ten minutes we came back inside and they said they wanted to adopt me! According to the rules they had to spend another half hour with me before beginning adoption proceedings.
The adoption was quick and smooth. They took me home in a taxi with the nicest driver around. I had found my home and they had found me. The rest is history.
I know I am part Basenji and I am not sure what I am mixed with :-(
I think I might be part terrier. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I have had so many people ask me where I got my name. Well, mom and dad love the Thin Man movies from the 1930s and 40s. The couple, Nick and Nora Charles, had a dog named Asta. While I am not the same breed as the Asta in the movies I can really act!
