One Year Milestone

Well I made the 1 year milestone of being cancer free!! Mommy's been holding her breath since we din't know how far it had spread. If it had been in my lymph nodes, they say I would have had less then a year. Good news is, it's a year later and other then the arthritis and bad teeth issues, I'm doing great! I know it could come back at any time so I've been living life to the fullest and enjoying every snow flake this winter.

Summer's over - On bed rest

Wow it was a great summer! Lots of play time. Went swimming with all my cousins a few times. Mom and dad took some time off to stay home. I got to spend full days outside in the sun!
But all good things come to an end. This morning I chased the broom after my morning walk. I have this habit of shaking my whole body and barking at it. Well something happened and ouchie I was in pain. I hid the pain to beg for watermelon but after daddy put everyhting away I had a real hard time walking. I was staggering from the pain and walking into walls. Panic set in with Mom and Dad so off the the vet I went. Good news is it's not a stroke, just something slipped in my back. I got shots of steroids and am now on bed rest. All my tennis balls have been gathered up and put away. Little do they know I have a few hidden ones....

Happy 4th of July!!!

Last night we went for a walk in town. It was so cool, all the streets were closed and there were lots of people and goodies. I, of course, was the hit of the town. Everyone laughed cause I have to have a ball in my mouth all the time, even on a walk. If the people were nice I dropped the ball at their feet so they could throw it back to me. I got lots of petting. There were even lots of those little two legged things. I LOVE that they are at my level. The better to sniff. Only complaint was that all these people were in my park so I couldn't get off the leash and run to get the ball. Got home so tired I never heard the fireworks.

It was a GREAT Birfday!

Not that everyday is great around here but yesterday was my Birfday and it was better than great. It started with lots of extra smooches on the nose and cuddle time. I even got a boost into the bed. Before mommy left I got my treats dipped in peanutbutter. Diets don't count on birfdays....When daddy got home I got lots of ball time. Dinner had extra goodies. After my nap we went for a ride to walk in the village. Wow they had the whole town out for my birthday. What a surprise that was! I walked the town square. Left them a present ...hehehe...then we walked around the rest of the village. There were people sitting out on the sidewalks just to pet me. There was music, kids, old cars parked all over and lots of petting. All just for me. Daddy had to run into a store so mommy held me and my sister. She laughed when we went over and made ourselves at home with some people sitting on their porch. Thanks to everyone in town for coming out for my birthday, you can take down the cruise night signs since I know it was all about me!

Gummy Bear

I'm home but not happy...I'm now a gummy bear. Dr Will took out 15 of my teeth. Do they make doggie dentures??? All my top front to teeth are gone except the canines which means I can still hold my ball.
Overall I feel ok. I've eaten my mushy dinner, drank some water, had my antibiotics. I'm giving mom a hard time over the pain pills. They're the dissolving ones again... she already had one melt on her finger... I've peed and pooped so everything is in working order...tail wags, all 4 paws move....
While I was there they froze a piece of skin hangin on my eye. I also got my nails done. Not quite the day at the spa I'd like.....

Tooth Ache

Mommy always picks on me for my teeth. As a youngster I filed them down on the bricks from the fireplace. The better to hold a tennis ball wif. But now I'm having horrible toothie aches. I even have some pus from one of the back ones. Off to the vet I went yesterday....not good, he wants to pull a few of them. Mom says I can now be a gummy bear... I'm scheduled to go in the morning and be home by dinner. For some reason I doubt I'll want dinner tomorrow.
Mom's worried about me going under general anesthesia again. She's been putting this off but it hurts so much that I don't want play wif the tennis ball means it's time. Wish me luck !

Westminster

My cousing Scrappy (AM/CAN CH Labs Landing's Leftover's ) is at Westminster. Mommy and his mommy are leaving in the morning to watch him. They have to hide in the stands so he doesn't see or smell them because he howls and cries for his mommy. He's a big baby!

Keep your paws crossed and root for him!!! Go Scrappy!!

My New Figure

The good part of a this surgery is that I pretty much had a tummy tuck on the one side. No more saggy flab. The vet put me on a weight management diet and says I need to loose 15 pounds. Been working out chasing the shovel and vacuum. Just start playing me that "Rocky" music!!!

Time to Play!

Sorry we've been off-line for several days. I've been holding mom and dad's paws while they have a horrible flu. We've been being big girls and walking ourselves while they have the sniffles. They open the door, we go do our business and come right back like good girls.

I got the stitches out! I can't jump yet but have been given permission to chase the vacuum and shovel!! (within limits of course) The fur is even starting to grow back on my belly. Hopefully it comes back soon so I can lay down in these great snowbanks. I even made it through the whole trip to see the vet without peeing on him! He was quite happy about that. Instead I gave him lots of kisses for taking the cancer out of me...

He wants me on some new diet to loose weight. Said I should be about 75 pounds not 93! Mom says hardest part of the diet will be dad. I guess I kinda have him wrapped around my little paw...hmm pizza crust...

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Which on to go first:

The Good: My back leg is almost back to normal. If I try to go to fast it does give out on me but I am doing stairs and walking almost normal. That means I can chase balls again once the stitches are out.

The Bad: It's snowing and I can't help shovel because I like to shake my whole body like I'm killing my ball and they don't want the stitches to come out. They keep talking about my stuffing falling out then. It's also slippery and the back paws aren't totally up to speed. Stiches out Wendesday.

The Ugly: The pathology came back and it is cancer (ductal carcinoma). The vet only sent part of the tumor for pathology and not the lymph nodes so it's hard to say how far its spread. (mommy works in a hospital so she understands staging) The cells don't look like they're multiplying super fast. If it has spread to any internal organs it could be weeks to months and if it hasn't gotten that far then it would be months to a year. Mom still doing 'research' on the cancer.

Daddy said I can have McDonald's everyday if I want! Mom's afraid I'd explode if I did that....
