Who's daddy?

Mom tells me that in about 9 days this man called Daddy will be coming home. I don't get it...Who is this "daddy" character? I am very content with only having Mommy around and visiting Grandma and Grandpa every once in a while. Mom has even told me that my daddy is alot like my grandpa. I don't know...I'm keeping my guard up, nonetheless! I don't want anyone sneaking in this house.

Rain, rain go away!

Oh, dog, it's been raining here for, well, it seems like forever now! Mom says it's a good thing because the ground is so dry, but whatever! When it rains I don't go outside to play as much and I have to potty in the rain. I hate going potty in the rain! But I will gladly chase a kitty in rain, sleet, snow, whatever the weather! BOL!

I come back inside all wet and Mom grabs me with a towel and starts the drying process. I get so excited after being towel-dried; I don't know why! I start running all over the house, and Mom says she has to get the fire extinguisher for the carpet! I didn't see any fire, though; maybe I should get my eyes checked. Hmmm.

So my mom's been mentioning this "daddy" person and saying he's coming in about 2 weeks and that I'll meet him for the first time then. I'm not quite sure what's going on here. I like it being just Mommy and me! She explains that Weazy was a diva and she loved Daddy alot and insists that I will, too. Well, we'll see about that! I'm not real fond of strangers. She did say he liked to play outside, so he's got potential.

All of my health-conscious pals will be glad to know I haven't gotten into any more chocolate whatsoever. Mommy's been very careful not to leave even unopened stuff around where I can reach it. She said it's like "baby-proofing" the house, whatever that means. *rolls eyes*

Alright, it's off find my chewy now!

I wasn't supposed to do that

So last night Mom was ironing her shirt for work and I was bored. I really just wanted to go to bed, but Mommy said she had to do the ironing first. Ugh! So I went to the livingroom and waited. Well, while I waited, I spotted a sealed candy bar Mom had left on the arm of the couch. It was a 3 Musketeers Mint, similar to a York peppermint pattie, but in bar form. I drug it to the floor and ripped the packaging open and began my feast! It was soooo gooooood!

Then, out of nowhere, Mom came around the corner and found me! I jumped back as she yelled NO, as if to say What? It wasn't me! I tried to fool her. I looked at her very innocently, but it didn't work. She started to panic! I had eaten nearly half! She grabbed the candy off the floor and ran to the computer to check the Internet for chocolate poisoning information.

Fortunately, I had not eaten nearly enough chocolate to poison me, but Mommy still watched me closely overnight just in case. Man, that candy was great! You'd think Mommy would've learned by now that I chew on anything. Anyone remember the debit card indedent? What about the laptop cord? The comb? The cotton swabs?

Yeah, I wasn't supposed to do any of those, either.

Second Dog - Borrowed from my pal Finn

(Mommy talking) I found this in Finnegan's diary, and I had to post it as well.

I dedicate this to my girl Greta:

Second Dog-

Sometimes I look for traits in you
Of a little dog you never knew.
A dog who loved me all his days
and understood in special ways.
But that's not fair to you, my elf,
You're not a substitute, but are yourself.
You've dried the tears and eased the pain
And tugged my laughter home again.
Yet, at times, puppy, I almost start
When your eyes recall him to my heart.
You'll never lack for love, it's clear --
Because of him, you're twice as dear.

We went to Petsmart!

Mommy and I went to PetSmart today! Yippee! I love riding in the car. When we got there, I told everypup I was the boss and they better get out of my way. BOL! Mommy quickly corrected me and kept my leash very short. Once inside, I was really good. I didn't bark, and Mommy was especially thankful that I didn't bark near the sleeping tiny lil' baby in there. She said the baby's parents would've scolded us! Whew! Disaster avoided!

I tested out a couple of new doggie beds and picked one out. It's pink! I love it. I also got my own bobo! It's red and really long and squeaks. And I got a squeaky stuffed frog and some chew bones and some busy bones. I racked up! And I got to sniff several people without them running away or being frightened. I even got to sniff another doggie! We said hello to each other, then moved on. Then on the way home, Mommy bought dinner and shared some with me, and she even got me some water for me for the ride home. I had alot of fun.

Much to my demise, Mommy left me at home with Kitta after that trip to go to a store that doesn't allow dogs. First of all, I don't get that. Then, when she got home, she came in the house with two tiny wet kitties! I've never seen such. They were very cute! They were so little, soaking wet and shaking like crazy. Mommy wrapped them in a towel, put them in a box and took them back outside. We found their kitty mom, and returned them to her. I wanted to play with them, but Mommy made me stay away from them coz I was scaring them apparently. What gives??? So I chased the other outside kitties! BOL!!

I'm worn out from playing with my new toys. TTYL!!!

Schnauzer of the Week! Woo hoo!

September 9th 2007 6:27 pm

I couldn't believe it! I logged in tonight and found a few new rosettes from some of my good schnauzer pals saying I was schnauzer of the week! I am so honored! Mommy was so surprised and smiled so big! Thank you, thank you, thank you to all my pals in Schnauzers Rule! 'Cause we do!

I also was IM'ing this evening with Micky boy and his daddy. We didn't realize they live in Malaysia! They are exactly 12 hours ahead of us here on the east coast. Neat! Micky said it's great over there. Maybe Mommy and Daddy could vacation there in the spring. Micky's daddy gave Mommy lots of good information. The only thing is that would mean I'd probably stay at the daycare overnight until Mommy comes back, like a week. I don't know if I'd enjoy that or not.

Next subject!

Yesterday Mommy went to several stores that don't allow dogs. What's up with that? Anyway, I was home with Kitta for about 8 hours without Mommy. Mommy put away the cords and put away the pens and all the stuff I'd probably chew on that I shouldn't before she left. So I wasn't crated! I made it the whole time without pottying inside or tearing up anything! Mommy was so proud of me and very happy! I was incredibly happy to see her, too! I don't like being left alone for 2 hours, let alone 8! Kitta just slept the whole time, but she does that on regular days, too, so nothing new there.

I got a bath tonight. I hate baths! I tried to escape the bathroom, but Mommy came and got me. Shucks! So Mommy washed me, telling me how dirty I was and how yucky the water was running down the drain, blah blah blah. I don't care! I wish there was a way to get clean without taking a bath, but that's probably impossible, huh? She also tries to convince me with the whole "Mommy has to take a bath, too, because she's dirty, too" business, but I'm not hearing it. In one ear and out the other. She says I look so pretty now that I'm done! Whatever! I was always pretty before!

I'm thinking about Montegomery now. He said his mommy is having surgery real soon. I hope she does well! Also thinking about Cafe; he went to his furever home just recently! Woo hoo! Aarrrooo! Way to go! Other thoughts are for Sydney and her mommy. Sydney's not been doing well in her older years lately, and her mommy is facing a difficult decision. I know she'll do what's right for Ms. Sydney.

Fellow Schnauzers - Thank you for making me Schnauzer of the Week!

Doing much better

Well, fellow barkers, I must say I've been tamed. Just a bit, not totally. If someone walks past our yard or bikes by, I still bark at them. I gotta let 'em know who's house it is! Oh, and a dog came IN my yard last night and did his business! And Mommy let him! She wouldn't let me chase him out. Dispicable!

But when it comes to barking at people when we're at daycare or in the car, I'm doing much better, according to Mommy. If I bark, she corrects me and we move on so I'm not continuously barking at the people and the people don't give mommy *those* looks. It makes Mommy happy and she calls me a good girl, so in turn it makes me happy. I'm a mommy-pleaser; afterall, she is the one who dispenses the treats!

Still barking!

Okay, not as much as before, but I still get 'em out! I just have so much built up inside that I have to release it! Plus, Mommy needs to know when something's out of place somewhere. And everyone needs to know when I arrive somewhere!

Mommy's been stopping me from barking at people that are walking down the street when we're in the car, like waiting at a red light. But if there's a child, I still get a bark out! Kids just get my goat! The kids across our street ride their bikes, and I think they know I hate bikes! Something about the noise the chain makes bothers me to no end. They're doing it on purpose, I'm convinced. Mommy scolds me for barking at those children, saying they're allowed to do that. But I don't agree!

Oh, Mommy and I saw a rattlesnake just up the road from our house the other morning! Ewww! He was dead, but still very icky. We both stared at it for a while before she took off from the stop sign. Of course, I wanted to jump out the window and investigate it more, but Mommy wouldn't let me! Now Mommy's been extra vigilant in the yard. She thinks the snake was driven out by all the rain we've had, and parts of our yard are overgrown (she doesn't want people to know that - shhh!), so she's worried about me running around out there.

I hear someone barking outside right now! Gotta go!

I don't see barking as a problem

Mom says I've been barking quite a bit, and it's been progressing over the last several weeks, probably since my visit to Grandma's when I saw my furdaddy and he was barking alot. Well, Mommy has decided I am barking too much and I need to chill. What??? I never thought anyone could bark too much!

When we're riding in the car, and I see someone, whether they're on the street, across the street, in a parking lot on the next block, I growl and bark at them. Mom doesn't think I should do this, so she's been correcting me lately. I still try to sneak some in there, but she gets me! When we arrive at daycare, if someone else is there in the parking lot, I go into barking fits and run towards them. Mommy is afraid that I'll attack them, I think. She tightens that leash real quickly! I'm just trying to protect her and I have to let everyone know I'm the boss! ME! They must listen to me!

Well, I've made progress; Mommy let me go with her to the post office this morning. There were some people in the parking lot, so I barked once and Mommy corrected me, and I didn't bark again the whole time! I even got a pupperoni treat when we got back home! Aarrroooo! Oops, there I go again!
