Arrival Story:
My boyfriend and I adopted Helix in August of 2006 after reading about him on his breeders website. At the young age of 3 months he had been training to be a Hearing Aide Dog with PADS (Pacific Assistance Dogs). One year later he was dismissed from the program and sent back to his breeder. A few months later we adopted him and was flown home to us.

Bio:
We currently have another female Basenji (who will be 12yrs old October 2007) and always wanted another one. The time seemed right. He is a great addition to our family. He loves running and playing with all dogs - big and small. His nickname "Batman" was given to him from his puppy raiser because of the Batman-shaped white blaze on the back of his neck.

Summer Vacation 2007


Lure Coursing

Well this summer has been quite eventful....
I graduated from my "Radical Recall" class, went on a small vacation to Christina Lake. Now my newest venture is lure coursing. I have been out to 3 practices and am getting the hang of it. My mom is starting me off slowly, I have not raced any other dogs just yet. The weekend of September 15/16 I may try to get qualified and then run in the singles class first. If I do really well with that then I will try to see about racing with another doggie. Baby steps though. I will keep you all posted on how things progress....

Christina Lake 2007

So my mommy, daddy, me and Tanga went out to Christina Lake, BC for my mommy's family reunion. What a long boring car ride that was- nothing to do but try to sleep the whole 7 hour drive. Mom and dad though took a wrong turn, so we took a 3 hour detour and had to take the ferry boat across the lake. We were the hit of the reunion- everyone wanted to meet us - we were such well behaved kids! Mom was proud of us! Before I knew it the weekend was over and off, we headed back home. What a trip, dad said we will come back out again one day.
