Born in Grimsby Ontario. Mommy almost picked #42 but I won her over :-) . Originally, my name was going to be Reggie after my grandfather Reginald. Unfortuantely my granny didn't like that so for my first 3 days at my new home I didn't have a name. Eventually, mom and dad named me after a very fast & famouns (infamous?) Canadian plane called the Avro Arrow. I now volunteer with Golden Rescue

Winter 2008: Snow, Snow & Snow!

Hi everyone;
Sorry I haven't been writing lately but mom (my translator) has been too busy. Anyway, I'm back and have lots to tell you all. We've had SO much snow this winter and it's been GREAT! I love rolling in the snow on my back going backwards down a hill- sort of like reverse body tobogganing! Mom definitely likes snow better than mud so she is hoping we skip spring. I on the other hand I LOVE rolling in mud- I just hate having a bath afterwards.

Anyway, this February mom & dad took a pet first aid course. I'm glad they want to learn these things as it makes me feel safer. I actually had to go on the second day of the course so they could practice on me. Boy did I feel silly getting all bandaged up. Mommy's always paranoid about me eating something and choking on it so learning the heimlech maneuver was a good thing. Unfortunately I gave her a scare few weeks ago when I threw up large chunks of a bone they didn't know I had swallowed. Luckily nothing got stuck on the way up hen no one was home. I had to go to the vet and get x-rays and then they also filled me up with IV fluid so I looked like a camel for awhile. Now I'm not allowed to have any more bones and mom told me I have to cooperate more since she will be brushing my teeth more. At least it tastes like chicken!

Last weekend I was working at the Toronto Sportsman's Show with my friend Jake in the Golden Rescue booth. It's hard work looking cute and being pawed at all day by little kids. I was so tired by the end. i just wish people bought more stuff because Golden Rescue has already had 40 dogs come in this year that need a home. Last year we had a 150 with $91,000 in vet bills. So you other Golden's reading this, if you are ever in Toronto and see us at an event please bring your mom & dad over and make a donation. Your Golden brothers & sisters would appreciate it vert much.

I also went to the indoor dog swimming pool this season. i wish I had a pool in my basement so I could swim anytime I want. Hopefully my friend Jake will come next time because it would be good for his hips. Besides- it would be fun to have a buddy with me!

Anyway, mom says she has to get back to the figure skating so I better go.

See ya!

Golden's Rule!......Golden Rescue Picnic

Hi again;
Every year Golden Rescue has a picnic for all of the rescue dogs and their families so I went with mom and dad because we all volunteer with Golden Rescue. There must have been at least 100 Golden's there. Mom said I was still the best looking- She is a bit biased however.

There were alot of activities and I actually got to try out the agility course. At first mom and I went over the jumps together but then I would go by myself. Sometimes I'd run around the jump instead just to embaress them! The tunnel took some time getting used to and I didn't want to go at first and kept running around the tunnel but then mom threw the treats in for extra motivation.We were also allowed to play in the kidsplayground off leash and I even went down the slide. They also had a professional photographer there to take portraits. I had to pose with my dad as it was his birthday and the pictures were his birthday present. I looked SO good the photographer wants to use them on his website- o.k. dad AND I looked good together.

Anyway, it was a fun day and I hope that perhaps mom & dad will sign me up for some real agility classes. The park is great but something new would be fun.

Back from Vacation- Uuuugghhh!

Well I just came back this weekend from spending 10 days at Otty Lake which is near Perth On. As usual I had a great time and spent most of it swimming, swimming & swimming! I am a great swimmer too and can swim across the lake and around the island although I always have to have mom or dad there. Besides- I protect them! After a couple hours of natural swimming my parents make me wear a stupid life jacket just in case I get too tired and it keeps me visible to the the boats when I swim very far out. I hate those dam zebra mussels though -- oooouuuch!.

Mom didn't like it when I discovered the snakes that hide in the weeds by the dock. I kept trying to bite them which was fun but mom didn't like that and was constantly yelling at me -geeeezz... She also had a pocketful of stones to throw at the snake to scare it away in case I got too close. She thinks that maybe we should move to Ireland where there are no snakes.

On Sunday I went to my friend Jake's birthday/adoption party. It was great, lots of treats, other dogs to play with and even a a slice of doggy birthday cake and doggy loot bags! What a life! I hope I get a birthday cake as my birthday is coming up soon.

Talk to you later;
