Arrival Story:
I found him on Craig's List. A local woman was assisting a young couple re-home him. Their initial intent was to have him put to sleep after they opted to live somewhere he couldn't . They had allowed him to stay in their truck but knew he wouldn't survive long like that. He had been staying in the truck throughout the heat of the California summer. I wasn't really looking for a second dog but my heart broke when I saw his face and I agreed to take him in as a foster. Frodo is nearly identical to my beloved Arnold Ziffel, who lost his life trying to save mine during a house fire. Frodo had been used as a stud for back yard breeders. He was emaciated (30 pounds underweight), dehydrated, covered in fox tails and cysts. And he had a horrible infection from his neutering operation.

Frodo is seven years young. I asked the vet if the age is perhaps off a bit because he acts just like a puppy, but the vet insisted the age is accurate. He's a big, boisterous boy who LOVES to play. When his eyes are open there's a grin on his face from ear to ear and his tail is in full motion. Previously, he lived with a little human and he adores children. He's the sand castle king and loves all the attention kids give him. His leash manners are excellent. He knows Sit, Down, Stay (getting better) and he's learning how to shake. I've just begun walking him without a prong collar and he does quite well. Frodo has recently had some professional training and did excellent. He really does seem to enjoy learning and he caught on quite quickly. While my initial intent was to foster, it was difficult not to fall for his charms. Frodo, becamse known as Pooh Bear, as he too, lost his family as they grew up and left him. Now he's home and forever Mom's Teddy Bear.

My So-Called Friend

My so-called friend came over yesterday. Usually, he brings me and Pip toys and whenever mom's not looking he sneaks us a bite to eat. He baby sits us when mom's gone and is working on repairing the gate out back. Well, yesterday he came over with a brand new baseball. At first he didn't think I saw it but, I did. And do you know he wouldn't give it to me? The nerve of him. I chased him all around the yard before he managed to put in in the storage shed. He babbled something about a little boy. I tried to tell him I'm his boy but mom came out twice and hushed me. I'm going to get that ball if it's the last thing I do.

My vacation

I had my first vacation with my foster family. We went to Santa Cruz and I got to hang my head out the window the whole way. I LOVE riding in cars. Mom said she had a surprise for me and I couldn't believe there were FOUR kids just waiting to play with me.

We went to the beach and I helped them build a huge sand castle. I did all the digging and they made the castle. I also learned how to shake.
