7/30/11-Lots of changes here!

Lots has happened since my last diary entry! Mommy is ALWAYS on the computer, so I don't get a chance to keep everyone updated, but here goes. My human sister and the baby live with us right now, and it's kind of fun! The baby is 20 months old now, and she's learning to be gentle with me, and likes to "give me love". It's not so bad. She is eating in a high chair now, which is great, because she tends to drop things, so I score food a lot! She thinks it's fun to feed me, too, which Mommy tries to get her not to do, but hey, who can blame her! Even a baby can tell I'm too cute for words! She's here every other week, so I get a break, but I sort of miss her when she's not here. So lots of changes in our house, but I can adjust! Who says you can't teach an old dog.....

10/17/10-The baby is crawling!

My human half-sister came to visit this weekend with her little one. The baby is crawling! And she loves me! Boy is she fast! I spent a lot of the weekend keeping an eye on her. When she cries, I'm not sure what to do, but I'm sure if I just lick her all over I can fix whatever's wrong. Mommy just laughs when I try to baby the baby. She's not so bad, and Mommy promises that as she gets older, they'll teach her how to play gently with me. Right now she tries to pat me but sometimes ends up hitting me in the nose! For now, I'll just bump her a little with my nose when she comes on too fast and try to be patient with her. Guess she's not so bad. Mommy is loving being a Nana, so I guess I can enjoy being an Auntie Doggie. Sometimes when I wander through, the baby just squeals and points at me. Yesterday I did zoomies through the house and she just laughed and laughed!

09/02/10-Tina and the snake!

I like living in South Carolina, although it can be a bit over-exciting at times. We live in the country a bit, which means there are always cool things outside to sniff at. We had a little too much excitement a month or so ago. Daddy was walking past the stairs that lead down to the downstairs room and as he glanced over the rail he noticed something long and black stretched across the stairs. It was a 3 ft. long snake! Mommy grabbed me up before I could go after it and watched it while Daddy went to get something to take care of it. He came back with a machete and a hoe. After going down the stairs and chasing it down to a corner, he managed to pin it down and whack it with the machete. Ick! But no more snake! They had seen snake poop in the house a few weeks before, so we knew it was in there somewhere, just had to find it! Daddy thinks he found the place downstairs where it came in, and he's sealed it off. No more snakes in the house! One day they came home and I was particularly upset and was squawling and yelping, and that's when they saw the poop. Daddy thinks I saw the snake and was scared. Of course I was! This is my house! At least I could stay on the couch and stay away from it! Oh, it can be exciting to live in the country!

We're living in South Carolina now and I love it! Our house is in the country and there's lots of room for zoomies! There's also a big window in the office for me to sun while Mommy is on the computer. I have my couch and all my woobies and my beds, so as long as I have those things, I'm home. It's been raining a lot lately, so not as much sun as I'd like, but maybe it'll be sunny again soon! Hope everyone's having a great Memorial Day!

4/4/10-We're SC bound!

We're moving to South Carolina! Daddy's going to work in a new place, so we're going to move. There's a lot going on around here, and I'm not sure I like it all. Yesterday Mommy and Daddy had something called a "yard sale". I told them not to sell my yard, because I'll have nowhere to potty! Well, the yard is still here, but they moved a bunch of stuff from inside to outside and people came all day to look at the stuff. I wondered if we were going to live outside now? But the people who came to look at the stuff bought the stuff. Interesting. At least it wasn't any of my stuff, and my couch is still inside, so I guess it wasn't a bad day. A very busy day, though. Lots of people wanted to pet me and tell me how cute I am. I know, of course, but it's always nice to hear! Mommy tried to leave me inside, but once I figured out they were just outside the door I howled until they let me come back out. Soon I'll have to learn all about a new place. As long as they have lots of grass for me to play in and enough room inside to do zoomies, I'll be just fine!

1/29/10-It's snowing!

It's snowing again this weekend! They say we're supposed to get a lot more snow this time, almost a foot. I'm not sure how much that is, but Mommy says it's taller than me! Daddy's got the big shovel ready in case he has to make me a potty place. Mommy joked that they'd lose me in the snow! I just don't think that's funny at all. I can't help if that I'm short! It's part of my cuteness, in fact!
We'll just have to see how all this snow stuff turns out! Mommy's just hoping I don't have to go potty in the middle of the night tonight. I usually have to go right between 2:00 and 2:30 AM. I wake Mommy up so she can take me out. I think she's planning to stay up really late tonight so that I'll have my last trip out later and maybe I'll sleep soundly through the night.
Have a fun weekend, everyone! Let it snow!

1/10/10-A new person in our family!

We went on a trip this past weekend to visit family, and I got to meet a new person in our family. Daddy's daughter had a baby, so Mommy and Daddy have a new granddaughter! I got to meet her Friday. She is very small and smells really good. I kept trying to lick her, but Mommy told me that she didn't need to be licked, so I lay down beside Mommy while she held the new baby.
Later, Daddy was holding her and she was crying. Boy, babies are loud! I was upset that she was upset, and they wouldn't let me lick her to make her better, so I whimpered and yelped along with her!
We had a fun weekend! I think I'll like this little new person.....that is, until she starts crawling.....then we'll see!

7/1/09-I'm feeling fine now!

Thanks for the well-wishes from my Dogster friends! I am feeling great now! In fact, Mommy has had trouble keeping me still!
I'm done with my medicines, and hopefully that won't happen again. It did happen a few years ago, but I'll try to be more careful and not jump too much!
Just wanted to post that I'm back to my normal playful, pain-free, zoomie-running, supper-begging, super-lovable self!

6/10/09-Ouch...and what's that smell?

Well, I'm not having a good day. When I woke up this morning, I didn't want to stretch like I usually do and didn't even flap my ears (all part of my "I've just gotten up" routine). Mommy noticed I was just standing there with my head bowed and didn't respond to her when she called my name. I even cried a little. You know what that means....a trip to the vet. He took some x-rays, and I have a little problem with a disc in my back. Apparantly that's not uncommon for us wiener dogs, since we have these fabulously loooonnng backs! I've had this happen before, and it wasn't much fun two years ago, either. I had to get a shot, and I have medicine to take, which I don't mind, because I get my pills in a piece of cheese. Actually, this whole deal's not too bad, because I'm not allowed to run or jump for three weeks, so in order to ensure that I obey, Mommy spent all day today reading on the couch or watching tv with me in order to keep me still. She'll do that tomorrow, too, I heard her say, just to be sure that I don't do too much for the first few days. I even get the royal potty treatment. She carries me outside and puts me on the grass, then after I potty, she carries me back in. That's fine with me today, because it's raining, and I hate going potty in wet grass! Of course, as soon as the sun comes out, we'll have to have a talk about me not being able to run.
The other bad part of all this is that I have to go back two more days for shots, and for some reason the shots make me stink! Mommy says I smell like garlic, whatever that it. She says it's making her a little queasy, having me right next to her all day smelling so strong, but oh, well, I can't help it!
Keep me in your thoughts that I'll get better soon!

5/28/09-Gardening is fun! Why won't they let me play?

Mommy and Daddy have been working in the garden a lot, and they won't always let me play! I don't see why not, I'm a big help. I walk the perimeter of the plot, then carefully choose places to do my business so as to discourage any other critters from trying to eat my yummy veggies! So far the plants are small, which may be why they keep me out for now. I don't see what the big deal is, if it's short enough to pass under my belly as I walk, then I see no reason not to walk right over it! Mommy has to stop me from plowing right through the peas! Daddy promises that when the garden is a little bigger, then I can come out to play in it because I won't run over all the plants. I love to walk between the rows when the corn gets big. I imagine I'm a fierce jungle predator out on patrol. What fun! You just wait until I see that groundhog (or "whistle-pig", as Daddy likes to call him) hanging around. I'll give him a barking he won't soon forget!
