Nicknames: Mom likes to call me: Buddy; Bubba; Bubby; BoBo; Simey; Seamoan, WB (Wiggly-Bum) & Simon Says. My old nickname was "Slim Simon" because I ended up at the Sacramento shelter very underweight, but I'm now a healthy 70 pounds and that name does not fit!
Birthday: February 4th 1998
Likes: Balls, bones and bees (on my!); pig ears; greenies; riding in the car (so exciting); peanut butter and carob sandwiches (doggie reese cup); anything mom lets me have off the grill; toys that do NOT squeak; "chasing" squirrels
Pet-Peeves: Other dogs barking a lot (he's a mellow guy); leaving the dog park; toys that squeak - you're not fooling me, it's no squirrel!
Favorite Toy: bone de jour; greenie de jour
Favorite Food: Anything from Five Paws Bakery...especially those carob wafers
Favorite Walk: Fort Funston and Chrissie Field when mom takes me to visit Bailey and Cooper in SF; the Baylands, Cuesta dog park; Mitchell Park and downtown Palo Alto when we're feeling local
Best Tricks: Sit, "gimme five" ; "gimme ten" and "high five" (yes, I know my left from right paw!) / "say hello" (shake), wait, stop, leave it; down (if it's for cheese)
Arrival Story: I'm a rescue, meaning I rescued my mom who was working too much and needing something she calls "balance" in her life. I had my own web page at gsprescuedogs.com and she called and asked to meet me at my foster parents' house in Vallejo (Michele and Josh (and their GSP Sadie)). Before that, I had been at the Sacramento shelter which was very scary and rescue bailed me out in the nick of time and then I spent some time at a vet's office until they found my foster home. Anyway, I interviewed my new mom and thought she was pretty cool - she told me about beach trips and walks and a big yard, all of which were true : ) Thank goodness she didn't change my name to Balance, though.
Bio: Despite the "large" description above, I am STILL a lap dog!
Please consider adopting one of my friends from a rescue organization or your local shelter --- they will love you for life for it. Http://www.gsprescuedogs.com (where I came from) and http://www.hssv.org (where mom volunteers)
