Pass the Poison Ivy - This entry is for Nancy Cone - sorry it's been so long ; )

I know it's been forever since the last entry. Regan and family are doing great. Regan still loves her daily walks and rough housing with the cat. Luckily Pumpkin is as much like a dog as a cat can get. They are great companions.
Regan who is now two years old has grown into quite the little lady. She is not as fearless as she once was and is now calm enough to cuddle with me on the couch. She's turning into my old Gabby girl and I love that!
Regan has been able to go up and down the stairs since last June. She 's very skilled at the stairs, unless she has a big stuffed toy. The toy complicates the process and many times gets left behind.
On our daily walks I sometimes take Regan near the grape vinegard behind our subdivision. Usually we stay on the path. Needless to say we did not. The next morning I had a "rash" on my face. The only thing I can think of would be Regan passing the poison ivy and me hugging her that night. Nathan asked me if I had "made out" with her like I always do. Since going to the doctor, the posion ivy which is all over my face has calmed down a bit since the cortisone shot and the cortisone lotion. No more walks off the subdivision sidewalks.
Regan had a bath this afternoon and is quite the fluff ball. She puffs out and then the fur calms down. She is very happy when the baths are done and runs around the house like a mad woman. She is contentlychewing her new bone with her head resting on her bed.

Graduation Day & Puppy Day Care

Regan is doing so well and getting so big! I'd say she's about 25 lbs now. Now that she's walking for us we go on long walks around the neighborhood. We had a breakthrough with her walking last weekend :). She has now graduated from Puppy Obedience & Intermediate Obedience classes. She was definitely the ham of the class. She loves to play and interact with the other dogs. Not a mean bone in her. She had some trouble concentrating, but I think that's only because she wants to play and she's so smart she gets bored easily. She knows all of her commands but might choose to pretend she doesn't - unless you have food.

Regan started day care last Friday at her obedience school and LOVED it. She actually gave me a hard time when it was time to go. She loves all of the trainers at day care too. It's a great way to have her socialize and vent all that Corgi energy. The lead trainer told me that she was such a great dog when I picked her up, not a single issue.

We've definitely lucked out to get such a wonderful little Corgi. From my Gabby to Regan, I know that the breeder has done such a wonderful job with breeding Corgi's with a great temperment. So happy.

I can climb stairs!

I have finally conquered those looming stairs going to Mom & Dad's room. That's where Pumpkin the cat likes to hang out. I just can't wait to herd him around and bark, bark, bark. Poor Pupmkin can't hide up there now. If I could just figure out how to get down.....

to be continued...

I love kids!

I am so popular with all the neighborhood kids! They come over all the time and play with me. Mom likes this because Nancy (my first Mom & breeder) told my Mom that I needed to be socialized with kids. Because I'm so short and cute I'm a kid magnet. I also went to Uncle Kevin and Aunt Missy's house to see my Cousin Justin. He's 8 months old. Mom & Dad were really nervous about me around him, but I knew just to lick him to death. Justin and I LOVE to hang out together. I'm such a good puppy!

Regan's Obedience Training

I (Regan) have been going to the Trainer's Academy Obedience School for the past two Tuesday's now. I love the puppy play time at the beginning and I love that I have manipulated Mom into giving me hot dogs for treats. I refuse to perform for yucky dog treats. I now know how to sit (like I do any way), come, settle down & roll over on my back. The settle down and roll over is for the vet's office or if I get hurt. One trainer told Mom last week that I was the most well-behaved Corgi she's ever met. I'm always friendly and I just want to play nice with all of the puppies. I lick and mouth a lot - sometimes I bark too. Mom is also training me to sit like a fire plug just like Gabby did for treats. It's super easy and I get yummy snacks for it.

Grandma & Grandpa babysitting

Grandma & Grandpa came over to visit with Regan and to let her while Nathan and I were at a wedding. They remarked that she was such a good little girl. Yet when they put her back in her puppy play pen, she somehow managed to escape. When I opened the back door she greeted us. I was at first so upset that my parents would leave Regan out without access to her puppy pad and her crate. Then when I investigated further, she somehow unlocked one of the latches. How smart! Luckily there were no mistakes and the couch was still in tact. Whew!

Regan is growing and growing!

Regan has been such a good puppy. She is in her "element" in the morning. That's when she loves to herd the cat and nip at our ankles. We're working on that. She starts her obedience classes next Tuesday. She is still very calm for a puppy. Regan loves her ice cubes and loves to play fetch with her pink frisby and mini tennis ball. She also loves to play in her water dish. Because of this, I bought her a doggy pool at Pet Smart. With just a little water she loves it. She digs at the water and blows bubbles with her nose - too cute!

Regan Can Run!

Regan has learned to use her legs today! She has been running from me, around our large tree and back towards me. At first, she didn't know how to stop and she ran right through my legs. She also loves barking at any loud noise on TV or any passing truck. We're trying to curb that. She's just too cute! She also loves ice cubes. Any time we ice the ice cube maker from the fridge she comes over and sits to beg for a cube. She's very smart.
