Queenie was fine all day but became very sick in the evening. She was listless, not eating and had trouble walking. She went to the emergency vet last night and they did an emergency surgery and found out that her spleen had ruptured. She had probably been bleeding internally for awhile with no symptoms until last night. Queenie went into cardiac arrest after surgery and could not be revived and died at 2:20am. We all went to the hospital in the early morning to say goodbye. She looked like she was sleeping. We are very sad that she died so suddenly and we will miss her greatly. But she is no longer in pain (thankfully, a short-lived pain) and we believe we gave her the best life she could have for the past 4 1/2 years (she had been in several other homes before). Queenie was a big part of our lives and was the first dog for all of us. May Queenie rest in heaven and we will remember her for the rest of our lives, because she gave us great joy. I loved seeing how the kids were nice and affectionate to her (nicer to her than they were to each other!) and in return, Queenie was loyal and gave us unconditional love.

Dear Diary,
It's been a long time since we last wrote! I'm still a happy, well-fed home doggie, who can hear the sound of a Cheez-its wrapper crackling from one floor above ! My room was remodeled so now there is more desk area, less floor space, but I still have my corner of the room. I just happened to claim the area by the door so you have to step over my sleeping body to get to the computer, but that's okay...just remember that I'm there, though. That's why my mommy puts a night-light on for me; not so much for me to see, but to make sure others remember I'm there when they walking around at midnight in the dark.
My doggie life is still good and although it's been raining a lot lately, I still get to go outside and play and catch soggy tennis balls with my daddy or big sister. I get to eat twice a day at pretty regular times (although I start getting hungry at 3:00pm when the short people come home and raid the pantry and refrigerator, but I have to wait until 5:00pm most nights to eat!)
I am still the alpha pet around here (almost an h0norary sister) and I love my warm doggie life!

Dear Doggie Diary,
My family went on vacation last week and didn't take me! They had 7 passengers in an 8-passenger SUV...surely there was one space for me! But they did the next best thing, they let me stay with some other doggies in a nice lady's house, so I wasn't alone. I had the run of the house like I do at home and I met some nice dog-buddies. When my family came back, they brought back a dog statue thingie that holds plants....it looked like a doggie but it had a cold metal outside and wasn't warm and soft and furry like me. Nice try, but that's no friend of mine! Maybe one day, I will get a nice doggie roommate!
Also my mommy says I need to make more doggie friends and not be alone so much anymore (However, I don't see a problem with that, as I'm "Queen" of the house), so I started going once a week to Planet Pooch. They're nice there and they let me play outside and my family gets to watch me in a web-cam (they say I'm the one usually snoozing in the sun or shade while other dogs play around me). I rode the bus today and it was kinda fun...I think my family needs to get me a seatbelt like they have on the bus so I don't slide all over the slippery leather seats in the big car.
My daddy comes home tonight, he's the one who plays ball with me and tries to get me skinnier...my mommy feeds me and gets me fatter. I have the best of both worlds! And my kids keep me company and pet me so I get lots of attention. I don't have to itch myself because my bottom gets scratched by my favorite kids.
Love,Queenie
