Likes:
Dusty loves attention, especially if there are children around to give it! He also loves curling up right between Mommy and Daddy to sleep. Its his favorite spot to be in!

Pet-Peeves:
Bathtime, being brushed and anything remotely related to grooming. Also, being crated or not being allowed to sleep with Mom and Dad at night.

Favorite Toy:
A yellow and white fleece squeaky toy and a Dr. Suess plush toy. He also loves to play with any kind of soft ball, but he usually loses them after a day or two!

Favorite Food:
He's convinced that whetever we're eating is better than what he has, but usually he's pretty happy with his moist wellness food and Eukanuba Small Breed Puppy Kibble.

Favorite Walk:
He's not much for walking. He loves being carried, especially to places where there are people or other dogs around to play with, but other than that he'll walk for a bit and then lay down and refuse to budge.

Best Tricks:
Dusty's not big on tricks... he does know "sit", "down", "beg" (he picked up on that one really quickly!), ... and a few others, but he more often than not chooses to use his selective hearing.

Arrival Story:
Dusty was a "surprise" from my husband. One day he drove me to a pet store in Long Island. He first asked to look at female teacup yorkies, but as soon as I saw our little Dusty I knew he was the one I had to take home. He had this goofy, charming attitude about him that I fell in love with the second they put him in my arms. He was the only 6 month old yorkie in a store full of 8 week old pups and it broke my heart to think of him spending all those months in that little pet store cage! There was no doubt about it, he was the puppy for us - and there's not a day that goes by that he doesn't add more happiness to our lives!

Bio:
Dusty is a super friendly puppy, he loves meeting other dogs, cats, people... basically anything that can give him attention!! His nicknamed is Boo Boo, which was just a little pet name I got into the habit of calling him, but now its sort of caught on and pretty much everyone uses it! Unfortunetly he has lived up to his nickname, being somewhat accident prone!

Baby Brother!

Wow, its been a long time since my last entry about my 1st birthday in September.Let me fill you in on what's been going on...

The rest of September was pretty busy. Mom had to go to the hospital a few times and when she was home she wasn't allowed out of bed much. Dad was busy repainting the whole house at the time. On October 2nd mom and dad went to Nannie's house for dinner. They came home early and I was excited, but mom wasn't feeling very good so I didn't get to spend a lot of time with her. Early the next morning (October 3rd) mom woke me up super early and gave me a big hug. Then she put me into my crate which was a little confusing but she promised to be back soon. A little while later Nannie came to pick me up. She kept telling me I would be staying with her for a little while. That's not so bad, because Nannie has a never ending supply of treats that I don't have to do anything to get!

A couple of days later Mom and Dad came to pick me up, but they weren't alone. They were holding this little thing. I thought it was a dog but it sure didn't smell like a dog. Then I think it got hungry cuz it gave this long screech and I thought "oh no! A cat!". It wasn't a cat either. It was a little person. Mommy and Daddy explained to me that he was my little brother and that I had to take care of him like a good big brother.

Well, at first I didn't like this loud funny smelling thing. I tried to make Mommy and Daddy mad by doing things I knew were bad so they would take him back, but they didn't take him back. They didn't get mad at me either. They pretty much just kept loving me. Then one day I snuck up on the bed where Mommy was with my new little brother. Mommy let me lick his little feet. I love feet. Anyway, I got to thinking after that... maybe he's not that bad.

Well, its been almost three months. He's really not so bad after all. I like to lick him and sniff him... except when he's got one of those dirty diapers, then I stear clear. And Mommy and Daddy didn't forget about me. In fact now we all spend lots of time together and I'm so glad Mommy doesn't have to go to the hospital anymore! I was lonely at night without her.

Soon Mommy says the baby will sleep in his crib... well, she said crib, but I think its just like my crate. It has bars and its supposed to keep him safe, so it sounds like the same thing. Then maybe I'll be allowed to sleep with Mommy again! I hope she lets me keep my blanket though. Its a lot softer than hers.

Well, thanks for stopping by!! Mommy's making breakfast so I gotta run!!

Today was my very first birthday! I never had a birthday before, so I wasn't sure to expect. Mommy woke me up at midnight to wish me a happy birthday, and she let me eat a treat in bed!! Then this morning I got a shower and got all dressed up so we could go to Great Grandma's. I got the biggest surpirse there! My WHOLE family was there to wish me a Happy Birthday! Mom and Dad bought me a cake (I shared that with my buddy, Fred, next door!) and Great Grandma got a people cake, but I think mine looked a lot better!

After cake everyone gave me presents! It was so cool. I got treats and toys and clothes and they were all wrapped up in paper that I could roll around in! Mommy took lots of pictures and I played with everyone. I really wore myself out. After the party I had to come home and take a nap!

I was so happy! I never knew Birthday's could be so cool!! I really can't wait till next year!

Paws & Kisses,
Dusty

My New Friend!

Whew! What a crazy weekend I had! I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open! It was Grandma & Aunt Diane's Birthday this weekend, so Mom and Dad spent all week running around making plans for a big surprise party! On Friday we were really busy making last minute plans and Friday night we were really really tired by the time Daddy had to go to work. I was hoping we could go to bed early (I don't like to sleep alone!) Mom started to get sick. My baby brother was making her hurt, but he's not supposed to do that until November! So Mom had to call her doctor and go to the hospital! I was kinda scared because there was a lot going on that I didn't understand, and Mom told me I might have to stay with Aunt Diane for a while. I love Aunt Diane, but I hate when Mommy goes away! And she was gone for a long time. It was starting to get light outside when she came home. I tried to be really good and not cry for her attention when she came home, but she could see right through me and gave me lots of hugs and kisses as soon as she walked in. Then she told me everything would be ok for now and we both took a nap together. Then Mom woke up waayyy to early... I was still very sleepy, but we had a surprise party to get to!

I was sad when we got to Great Grandma's house and Mom and Dad took me downstairs. I wanted to cry, but Mom was still feeling sick, so I tried to behave. Then the bestest thing happened! Grandma brought a friend in to keep me company!!! Her name is Kate and she's a whole lot bigger than I am, but that didn't matter! And the best part... she didn't ignore me or get grumpy when I tried to jump on her head or pull any of my other puppy acrobatics with her (some dogs get very grumpy, they don't remember what its like to be a puppy!). We kept each other company and played together all day. I was ad to leave because I don't know when I'll see her again, but I was getting pretty sleepy anyway. I was happy that Mommy didn't have to go to the doctor's that night. I cruled up in my favorite spot, right next to Mommy, and we slept all night!

Daddy woke me up this morning (I always wake up when he comes home from work) and we spent some time together quietly, so Mom could get some extra sleep. Dad says she still doesn't feel too good and she has to get alot of rest. I don't mind. I like resting with Mom. In fact, me and Mom rested on the couch most of the day together. And I made sure to use my wee wee pad every single time today so Mommy could be happy & feel better!

Then after dinner Aunt Diane came over again! She brought cake, but I wasn't allowed to have any. I did get eatra treats for being good about my wee wee pad all day though. My cousin Meagan played with me a lot. I tried to stay awake until they left, but it was really hard. I think everyone started to get tired though, so they went home early.

Now I'm just getting ready to curl up with Mommy and sleep. I had so much excitement this weekend I'll be glad to just spend some quiet days with Mommy & Daddy now!

Paws & Kisses,

Dusty
