Arrival Story:
Forrest was listed on Dogster and Petfinder, He was born around the time of Katrina, end of August beginning of September, in Louisiana.
Forrest and his sister were the only puppies of a litter of 8 to survive, their mom was a border collie and was hit by a car, 6 puppies went to the shelter and the two sickest Forrest and his sister, went to a foster home for indivivdual attention and TLC, the six puppies did not survive unfortunately the staff had to many animals to deal with as there was a huge influx of additional homeless animals after Katrina hit. But Forrest, originally named Stafford and His sister originally named Macy Grace survived and flourished until Jeanne the foster mother's care. We were looking for a permanent playmate for Kona and were looking for a puppy of opposite sex, and younger, because we did some research before deciding to get a second dog and found that the best way to ensure a good match is to find a second dog of opposite sex, different age either older or younger, younger is better because then the original dog stays at top of pack still and of similar size. When we saw Forrest's listing we thought he sounded perfect for Kona. We contacted his foster mom and she arranged a home check for us. Forrest arrived by plane in a kennel and when I looked in the kennel, it felt almost like Kona was looking back at me, he looks so much like Kona at first glance. So cute and full of personality. Every day with him is full of fun and adventure, from the time he wakes up in the morning he hits the ground running, literally. He loves our cats and tries to play with them, he loves to snuggle with them too.
