It is with a heavy heart that I (Foster Lady) I inform you that Koli now runs the Frozen Tundra of the Great Beyond.
In June she went into renal (kidney) failure. We did what we could to save her; but by the time we knew, it was too late. July 20th we said goodbye.
I'll be keeping this account active as a memorial in her memory. She was loved by many and it has been heart-wrenching witnessing so many broken hearts.
On a fortune cookie the day after I asked for people to send her warm loving energy: "Love is a warm fire to keep the soul warm."
It's not the best song I thought of, or the first; but it is the only one that has stuck in my head/remember thinking of. The week after she went, I played "Leave Out All the Rest" by Linkin Park
Thank you everyone for your support over the years,
"F.L." a.k.a T.A.K.
---------------
There were many things that could have lead to her going into renal failure; however the most likely culprit is the Proin we had her on. For the past few years she took it willingly, then in her last three months she had started to refuse it. I found several veterinary (and medical) articles from back around 1982 where studies were done when people and pets were turning up with renal failure. It was pulled off the market back then for use in humans.
I had a gut feeling something was wrong and should have pressed to get bloodwork done sooner. I waited too long after the vet said she seemed fine. This is the second time that I used my head instead of my intuition. It's a hard lesson to face, but one that hopefully sank in this time. Listen to gut, advocate *fiercely* for the animal, and if need be get a second opinion (though in this case the later didn't apply.)
---
I'm still amazed and in awe at how many people showed up to say goodbye to her. How many people said prayers for her, how many people were constantly asking for updates. The tears shed, the hugs needed. Men, grown men showing up to see her were in tears unabashedly. She was loved and cherished by so many. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you that cared about her.
I wish all foster dogs could receive the support that Koli received. My last wish if you never glance upon her page again, is that you keep her in your memory and give other animals and children needing homes as much love and support.

If anyone has the picture of the Chinese Crested in the blue pajamas or has any inforrmation about that dog, my human would really like it if you could share.
She's been in such a clicking frenzy hoping to win one of those gift cards to Petsmart so that she can buy me more nice things, that she didn't even think to save the image for later viewing.
She gets such a big smile every time she sees that dog. Thank you in advance for any help.

I'm worn and tired so most of this will be copy and pasted from the other sites.
4/27/09 Update: She gave me peanuts! Yum! All I had to do to get them was watch her give them to the squirrel. EASY! She was giving more to the squirrel though so I tried to go and take my share. She called me away from the buffet. I thought she had more for me; I feel tricked. I only got two more.
If you want to read Foster Lady's side of the story you can read it here: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/adopt_koli/message/47
Oh yes, please let me meet your cats. They'd be so much fun to chew... I mean chase. ~tail wags~
*ha'ruff* Foster lady is sick again, so no walks or bike rides. I'm bored!!! She tries to give me things to do but the games only last for a few minutes at a time.
We have to find a new home for our main ad (the one on Petfinder.) The group hosting it for us no longer will be able to. For details go here: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/adopt_koli/message/48 . If they're not the details you were looking for, I'm probably just as clueless as you are.

Ban the Gas Chamber for Animals in Michigan!
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/9003987 69
Just got alerted to this in email. Would have posted it yesterday along with all the other causes, but as I said this baby is brand spanking new.
In the email I received it stated that before the petition is submitted, that out of state signatures will be weeded out. If you're not a Michigan resident may I suggest writing a letter or email of *support* to Rep. Rick Jones. http://house.michigan.gov/rep.asp?DIST=071 or to American Humane.
31May09: I just noticed that when this is published a space is put in the link between the 7 and the 6. When you paste the link, just remove the space and it will work fine.

Hi, "Foster Lady" here. Koli wasn't happy when I asked if I could write a few things here. She said it's her space and she never gets anything of her own. I pointed out that she has her Care2 profile, and the message boards here. She relented since it's for a good cause. Thank you Koli. *Ahem* I mean Princess Koli.
Koli and I have been doing our best to remember to write updates both on her Yahoo Group page and her Care2 page. Unfortunately there's a lot of pieces missing and a few other things that haven't been clarified. :-/ I suppose that's what email is for... when it's behaving.

Here's a few current issues that are close to my heart and I hope that you'll take a look. Action can still be taken.

I cut off buying all Nestle products as soon as I found out and have managed to stay strong so far. There are so many reasons I support Wysong in this. Nestle is a big corporation using scare tactics to get rid of a competitor; Wysong was just trying to do what is ethical; Wysong produces quality products; supporting a local business.

Koli is still looking for a loving forever family [Am NOT, I'm staying here with these people so they might as well give up!!!] but in the mean time we're still trying to find some play mates for her while she's in Bay County [They never let me play with anyone here, it's soooo boring!].

P.S. I forgot to add this. I might not get to the message boards (I'm still not caught up with stuff and the computer still isn't entirely fixed. Also doesn't help that I was quite ill for six months. I haven't forgotten about all of you.) Someone had suggested Leslie McDevitt's "Control Unleashed" book to another person on the boards. I went out of county to borrow it from an out of state library (there are only six copies nationwide in the library system!!! such a shame.) and it was worth all the trouble! I told a bunch of friends what an excellent book this is and an anonymous angel got it for me for Christmas!
