(Do you like how I'm stringing you all along BTW? You're only gonna get little bits of my story at a time to keep ya coming back. BOL!)
So now the only way the humans would be able to get me is if they were to drive out to West Virginia from Arkansas to pick me up. Well, if it had to be that way, it had to be that way. They packed up the Suburban and off they went. They left on a Friday early morning and drove all day late into the night. They stopped at a motel somewhere in Virginia for the night and started out early the next morning again. They got to my trainer's house in the late morning on Saturday. Saturdays are when my trainer holds his Shutzhund training and my human lady was in awe. She said it was like she died and went to heaven. All those beautiful German Shepherds and Dobermans in one place... it was like a dream come true for her. After watching Hardy train for about a half hour or so, it was time for me to make my entrance...
If the human lady thought she was in heaven before, she was positive she was when she saw me come trotting out with Hardy. Her breath caught in her throat and our eyes locked. Her heart stopped for a second. She knew in an instant that I was the missing link to their family.
I, of course, played it cool. I don't like strangers, and thats what these humans were to me. Strangers. Hardy walked me around the property to loosen me up a little and then brought me over to meet the humans. I wouldn't get close to them, I kept my distance. Hardy gave the humans a bag of cut-up hotdogs and the lady offered me one. I cautiously took it. They gave me more hotdogs. I took those too. My tail was tucked so far between my legs that it looked like I didn't have one at all. I was pretty nervous. After a while Hardy put me back in my kennel. The humans watched the Schutzhund training a bit more then went and got something to eat. When they came back Hardy brought me back out and handed the lady my leash. The humans took me for a walk around the property, and I untucked my tail a little bit. When the walk was over, the humans sat down to chat with Hardy and the other Shutzhunders. The lady was still holding my leash, and I was pacing a good distance away. She kept talking to me in a soft gentle voice, and eventually I came over to her on my own and let her pet my head. After a while I felt comfortable enough to lay down nearby these new humans. Hardy asked the humans what they thought of me, and these new humans just couldn't say enough nice things about me. Then Hardy said "Well, do you want to take him home?" The new humans couldn't say "Yes" fast enough! So, I gave some lovin's to Hardy and his family, got loaded up inot the new human's Suburban, and away I went to start my new life.
