Leave a bone for Bubba Nicknames: Bubby Birthday: August 16th 2004 Arrival Story: Hi, my name is Bubba and I'm getting me a new home next month. My Mom is having me "altered" (whatever that is) soon and will be looking for someone to take care of me afterwards. Well, I was told of a man who wanted me real bad and even bought a lot of stuff he didn't have before because he thought I would like to have some new toys. He got me a squeaky chicken, a Buster Cube, a Moo Cow and a Hedge Hog for toys we can play with.
My new Dad also bought me a new crate with bumper pads and cover, a couple of new baby gates to keep me safe when he's not there and to keep me out of trouble. He's also fencing in the backyard so I can have a place to go potty and be able to play without worrying about getting tempted to run out front where cars are. I think he's looking after me real good and I'm not even there yet!! I may learn to like my new Dad real good!!
I'm not looking forward to going to my vet this Tuesday...I'm a little afraid but, my Mom will make sure all will be fine and I may get an extra treat for being a good boy for going. They are going to do some surgery on me although I don't know what that's all about but, I'll go along with it since it will make everyone happy and make me healthy as I get older.
Me and my new Dad don't know much about each other yet but when he comes for me, we'll have much more to talk about and write so we can keep up with each other as we begin to share our lives together. I'm kinda gettin' excited about this although I was first apprehensive.
My Mom has assured me that he's one of the best and would love me as much as she has. I understand she can't keep me with so many others to tend to and that my new Dad doesn't have anyone to care for except me so, I know he'll shower me with love and toys and lots of good treats each day. I don't know too many commands yet, but I know my new Dad won't mind teaching me as that will make us closer to each other and I'm always willing to learn and do what would make him happy since I'm such a good boy anyway. Bio: I'm lucky as I still live with my Mom, Dad and my Grandma. My Grandpa got bit with a snake and died but I still have everyone else including all my other friends I live with. My Mom told me I have two brothers living not far away from where my new Dad lives and that excites me since I've never seen them. Their names are Chip and Dale and maybe we can all get together and have a down home country get together once I get settled in and spend some time with my new Dad and get acquainted real good. We have the same Mom and Dad, just born at different times, but; that don't make any difference to me-we're still kin folks!!
I hope my new Dad has a rocker as my Mom usually rocks me at night and I love to be in her lap rocking and thinking about all the good times I've had with her. Maybe he'll do the same and maybe even talk to me or sing me a sweet song!! Well, on second thought, that might get me to howlin' so, if he don't want to do that, I understand. So, until I get my new home and meet my new Dad, that's about all I can say right now but, stay tuned as I aim to tell much more of my new experience Forums Motto: Big Daddy Twit The Groups I'm In: ♥♥♥ CLUB CORGI ♥♥♥, Knoxville Dogs The Last Forum I Posted In: Another Corneal Ulcer I've Been On Dogster Since:
Wow, I can't believe it's been two years since I've last been here. So very much has happened I hardly know where to start. I can't remember all that's gone on in the past couple of years but some highlights....
Last summer I started having problems with my right eye. I kept squinting and sometimes closing it as it hurt. My Dad put some squirt stuff in there(saline solution I think) and that didn't help. He thought it might be an eyelash. Nope, it wasn't that so, he took me to the vet and they said it was a corneal ulcer. They gave me some antibiotic cream and some other stuff that dilated my eye for pain-didn't like that but if it helped I was all for that.
I was going back and forth to the vet sometimes 2-3 times a week and they finally took a needle, of all things and "debrided" my eye. That means they scratched it a bunch of times with a needle!!. Of course, that light green looking stuff they put in there before sort of deadened it. Well, it didn't work. After going back and forth for weeks, my Dad decided to take me to another vet and she said they did things too soon and she started nursing my eye. After two weeks, it started getting better and finally after about a total of about nine weeks, my eye got back to normal. My Dad said we weren't going back to those other vets again.
I've put on some weight because I'm lazy mostly. My Dad only gives me one third cup of kibble twice a day but he put stuff like chicken, green beans and things like that in there too. Well, I'm happy and he's happy so that's all that matters. At least my ribs ain't sticking out like some fellers I've seen. Anybody doesn't like me being fat-we don't care!
Dad fixed me a NY strip steak tonight. Man, it was good. That's for my upcoming birthday this Tuesday. We had it ahead of time since he works 10-hour days and today was a good day. I enjoyed it a bunch! I'll be seven years old come Tuesday and I've been with my Dad for four years now-seems like just a little while, though.
Well, there's a lot more I could tell but it's Saturday light and about our snack/TV time. We have a light snack about 8:00 or so and watch a little TV together on the couch.Dad's put me on a light diet. We only eat in the daylight, moonlight and by the nightlight. Looooool
It's been a year and a whole lot has happened since I was last here. Today I turned five years old and look and feel great! My Dad is going to take me to Arby's and get me a roast beef for lunch and later he said we'd have a little Cool Whip and Strawberries...oh, yeah!!
I'll never be able to catch up on an entire year of stuff but one thing I remember for sure is when my Dad's sister brought her King Charles/Cocker mix puppy up to visit a few months ago. He nearly drove me crazy those four days he was here. I don't think he stopped moving the whole time he was herewith us and was constantly aggravating me-jumping up and nibbling my ears, neck and feet and getting in my face all the time. I had to bark at him twice to try and get him to leave me alone but puppies don't listen very good. My Dad had to put him in the kitchen several times behind baby gates so I could get some relief...what a pest!! Outside I had more room to get away from him but he start running circles around me wanting to play and I finally bit the bullet and took off after him. He couldn't run as fast as me as he's was only four months old at the time and it was easy to catch him. I bowled him over a few times(hee, hee). Just a little payback, you know but I made it look innocent.
Unfortunately this little varmint came back like the plague the latter part of last month as my Dad had to go get some surgery done and was in the hospital for five days and his sister came up(with Oliver the Terrible of course) to take care of me while he was in the hospital. I didn't think Dad was ever going to come home again and was very worried. Finally he got back and he smelled funny and I wasn't sure it was him,. He smelled like medicine and all them other hospital smells must have gotten in his skin and I wasn't sure it was him. After i finally realized it was him, I got on the couch beside him and stayed there a long time right against him. I missed him and he told me how much he loved and missed me and never wanted to be away from me that long again. I hope he never has to go back to that place again. I feel so all alone and abandoned when he's gone like that as we're never apart except when he's working and I'm use to that but not for five days.
Anyway, glad that's over with but, I still had to contend with his sister's puppy who even though was a couple months older and had gotten neutered it sure didn't change him much as he was still a big pest. I know I wasn't like that as a puppy as I've always been a sweet and quite boy. You can ask my Dad about that if you don't believe me. After several days of staying with us the went back home and I was tickled to death! We did play a little and frap outside but, he just don't know when to stop.
My Dad got some new camera equipment this year and some new lens and has taken a bunch of pictures of me. Seems like every other time we go outside he's got that camera. I think he sort of likes me. We've got a camcorder too so he can see me in action. Of course, about the only action he gets of me is chasing a treat or rolling over on my back but we did visit my Mom in Ky and he got lots of pictures and videos while we were there.
I've been pretty healthy this year with only a virus once and Dad takes me to get my teeth scaled every few months so they don't have to put me to sleep to clean them. He gets scared doing that and brushes my teeth and takes me to see the vet so we don't have to do that again-or not very often. May need to sometime this upcoming year though so I'll have a healthy mouth for eating...my favorite past time.
Well, there's lots more but that's the highlights so far this year. I'm waiting until about 1:00 when we can go to Arby's and then get some strawberries and Cool Whip. It's going to be a good day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BUBBA!! Five years old now and it seems I've not had you with me but a year. You weren't quite three when I got you and I so wish I had known you as a puppy. I know you were a sweetheart but, I'm just glad we're together now and I love and cherish you more today than I ever have. I love you and hope you have a great birthday today!!
Today I turned four years old. I got treated like a king today and well, why not? it's not everyday a handsome fellow such as myself reaches four years old.My Dad brought me breakfast to the couch, took me to Pet Supply where everyone petted me and wished me happy birthday, I got some new toys and after we had a light lunch, Dad fixed me some strawberry shortcake with Cool Whip!! I feel as full as a seed tick! I know I couldn't be more blowed up if I had swallowed a watermelon but boy was it evermore good. He took some pictures of me with the strawberry shortcake and did a video as well. We've just been hanging out together most of the day and I fell asleep for an hour or so on his lap this afternoon. I can dig living like this forever.
Unfortunately, I was told tomorrow I was going to get my nails trimmed and don't look too forward to that. Dad bought one of them Elite Peticure things that makes a big noise but it don't hurt, just makes me nervous with all that buzzing. I guess he'll probably give me another bath too since I've been wallowing around in the dirt here lately. The things a Corgi has to endure for the price of getting strawberries!! All in all, a pretty good day and I'd like to do it again next Saturday but I probably won't be able to pull off another birthday like this until next year. We're going to KY in a couple of weeks and I'll get some more presents from my Mom up there. I like that soft velvet pillow my Dad got me today and lay my head on it while watching TV in the evening. I don't think I'm spoiled a bit though.
