What a fun day today was!!!
Florida Boxer Rescue, all the nice people who kept me alive until Dadoo adopted me, had their annual Boxer Bash today. It was really neat. Lots of stuff for dogs, a costume contest, and auctions to raise money for other boxers.
Everyone from the Rescue remembered me!! They called me Gabe, but they remembered what a people doggy I used to be. Dadoo could tell that they remembered how I didn't get along too well with other dogs though. You could see it in their faces whenever I would growl at other dogs.
Anyhow, there were LOTS of boxers there--fawns and brindles, a lot of white ones, an old girl with a wheeled thing she could walk with because her back legs didn't work. I didn't win the costume contest--that went to a little girl dressed like a pea pod! But Dadoo won the silent auction for a three dimensional boxer face made of stained glass. Mamoo wasn't all that impressed with it. Of course, she didn't go. But I am so glad I was there!!

Dadoo and I ran the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday. O.K. We walked. Half the race. Then we sat in the air-conditioned car for a while. It was reallllllllllllllly hot and humid. Too bad we quit; I think I would have won the dog prize.
It's kind of nice having a permanent home. There are a lot of really tasty couch cushions for me to eat!!!
And I like playing with the cat---If I catch her, I bet she'll taste better than the cushions!

Hello.
I've never had a diary before, so I might not do too well in putting this together. But I've spent most of my life moving around from house to house. I don't even know how old I am, but they called me Gabe and moved me from the East Coast of Florida to the West Coast, and then up and down the West Coast.
But last week, while I was staying at Doggy Daycare in Masaryktown, some really nice people came and took me away! They brought me to a new house, and started calling me Smike, and told me that I was a good dog. I've been getting a lot of petting and hugging, and walking around the neighborhood. The other day we went to a dog park, and I got to run around with 7 or 8 big dogs. That was a lot of fun, and we wrestled and barked.
I'm not the only animal living here. There's a little orange cat, who calls herself Annie Hall, who thinks she owns the place. She hasn't messed with me, and I've just ignored her. I hope she likes to play, if she ever gets friendly. So far she's just really stuck up!
I do think I'm going to like it here. Except the house mom won't let me up on the couch! It's the most comfortable place in the house, right under the window where I can watch people come and go. Well, we'll see if that changes. So far, it's a small price to pay for a nice place to live. I think they like dogs like me.
Your new pal,
Smike!
