Training & New Friends

Well, it has been busy around here! A bunch of new people have moved into the house and I have been having a great time getting to know each of them. I also have a new playmate! My "uncle" got a new Bassett Hound named Jack! He is fun and I enjoy jumping over him and grabbing his ears.

Mom has started training me. I am learning how to heel and how to sit, come and lay down. I don't really like to always listen to her. But I love the cuddles afterward! I give her lots of kisses when she cuddles me.

New Brother

Something strange happened about a week ago. Mommy and Daddy brought home a strange older dog they call Pappy. He gets to be in the house at night (jealousy here), just because he is a "house dog". He is called a Papillion and is very confused and scared about everything he encounters. I tried playing with him, but he just sat there, so I went and played with Mommy instead, she was more fun.

It will be interesting around here until Pappy starts to understand how our family works.

Trip Review

Wow! That was such a fun weekend! I got Mommy and Daddy all to myself! We went hiking up Harney Peak in the Black Hills. That is a loong walk! I was completely tuckered out when we were finished. Mommy and Daddy had to carry me some of the way because my feet just didn't want to go anymore. It was really pretty at the top though and we took several pictures. I will have to add them soon.

I also got to run around at our cabin. There were lots of new smells! The neighbor dogs barked at me a lot though and that was scary. But I would just hide until they went back inside before continuing my exploring.

I am back home now and back to sharing my kennel area with Mercedes. We are becoming good friends and wrestle a lot. Bentley has his own area, but we like to play-attack him when we are all out together.

I am excited for next week though - we are all going camping at the lake!

Traveling again

Well, I have been home for almost two weeks and was just starting to settle in to my routine. But now, I am off again for another trip! My Mommy and Daddy tell me that I get to go hiking and swimming this weekend! Wow that sounds like fun!
I went swimming for the first time earlier this week when I fell into the family pool, that was quite the adventure! But I just kept paddling and eventually Mommy rescued me. I am a good swimmer if I do say so myself!
I am off to get all my toys and bones together for my trip! See you all in a couple of days!

Homecoming

Well, I just met my new parents last week! My mommy picked me up and then we went on a road trip to Madison, WI to meet some more of my "extended" relatives. We met my new daddy in Minneapolis. I was snuggled a lot, which made me very tired, so I slept almost the entire 8 hours in the car!
I also slept a lot on the way home after the exciting weekend in Madison!

I met my new Springer playmates after we got home. It was kind of scary meeting Mercedes and Bentley. They are a lot bigger than me and are very active! But I am growing fast and I will be able to play with them soon without being bowled over...

I think life in South Dakota is going to be interesting and exciting!
