Arrival Story:
My daughter volunteers at our local humane society every afternoon, and I help out walking dogs and puppies three times a week. Louise was one of the dogs at the shelter, she was found on the highway with her two brothers, Huey and Dewey, in December when it was freezing cold, and when they were just little puppies. All the dogs at our shelter are awesome, but Louise just has the greatest temperament and gets along well with our Great Pyrenees, Zuke. As I got to know Weezers, I was so surprised that no one had taken her yet so I decided that it was a sign that she was meant for us, we couldn't leave her at the shelter for another day :)

Bio:
We lost Louise just after Thanksgiving in 2010 and it's still been so difficult for us...Zuke and Taylor miss her, too! Louise is such a doll...she really has such a great disposition and is just a joy to have around. As she's grown up a little bit and learned the ropes of the house (as opposed to the shelter), she no longer is growly at Zuke with her chewies...she still gobbles up her food and then tries to eat Zuke's, but we watch them so this doesn't happen. We don't know what she's mixed with, but I wouldn't be suprised if it were a pig...she'll eat ANYTHING as long as it's food. She'll take a bite first, and then spit it out if she doesn't like it...she keeps us laughing!

First bath

Alright, so my mom gave me a bath tonight and I'm still not so thrilled about it! I doubt if I will ever walk into the bathroom just to check things out EVER again! I succeeded in jumping out of the tub twice and I got my mom all wet (I know it's mean, but that's what she gets), but I still got scrubbed down anyway.

I'm sure I would have had a bath sooner, but we had to wait for my incision to heal completely (cuz my mom is paranoid) from getting spayed. I have to admit that I DO smell pretty good, mom washed me with special shampoo for black dogs, and I got misted with mink oil...I know I'm spoiled, but I just don't like getting all wet, unless it's in puddles outside from the rain!

My big brother, Zuke, tells me that I'm lucky, because he gets dried with a blower and that's a pain. All I can say is that I don't want to find out what the blower is!

*woof*

The duck is dead!

Well, the duck is done for. My big brother Zuke had his mallard duck that would quack when it was squeezed (there's a pic of him on his page with the duck)...I LOVED that quack noise, but I HAD, HAD, HAD to figure out where the "quack" was coming from.

I decided to fully investigate. My brother isn't too happy, and neither is my mom because I succeeded in pulling out all of the stuffing AND the quacky thing that was hidden inside and then I thought I'd chew on the quacky thing (that's the part that made mom mad, so she took it away right quick!).

It's really too bad, and I feel horrible...the duck was my big brother's only toy that he really liked, and he's so good, he'd never try to take it away from me. I didn't ruin it for him on purpose, I just couldn't help but look for the quack!

Maybe when I grow up a little more, mom will buy more stuffy toys for us. In the meantime, I think I'm going to have to stick to things that I cannot choke on!

I'm home!

I finally got a home this week, and I'm so excited! My big brother, Zuke, is a bugger some times, but I know that he's just excited that I'm here. He wants to sniff my butt all the time but it's totally not fair because he's so big and furry, I can't get a good sniff in return. He's really fun to play with, though, and I've already snuggled up to him to take a nap.

I knew my mom and sister really liked me, they always came to the shelter to see all of us, and give us walks, but for the last two weeks I spent more and more time with them, and with my new big brother. I loved all of the attention, but I never knew that I would get to stay with them all the time! It's great, I can lay in front of the a/c vent, I can hop up on the couch, I can go to my kennel if I want to (that's where I like to keep MY chewies).

I'm still learning to only go potty outside, so I have to sleep in my kennel at night, I'll get the hang of it pretty quickly, I've only had a couple of accidents. My mom and sister are really good about taking me outside so I don't have a chance to go potty inside, and I've noticed that my big brother rings these bells that we have on the back door...when that happens, he gets to go outside, and then he goes potty. Maybe it will work the same way for me, then I can sleep where ever I want to all night long :)

I'm thinking about not being so growly with my big brother when I have a chewie treat. He's so nice, I really shouldn't be so snotty. He even lets me eat his food and doesn't get mad when I growl at him for coming back to his bowl to see what I'm doing. Mom doesn't like when I growl at him, but I'm not used to this yet...I'll get the hang of my new digs pretty soon!
