Arrival Story: Major was approx. 2 years old and living in a small kennel with another full grown male german shepard. She had fleas and had been severely beaten. She had been found wandering in the woods in the dead of winter, starving, a obvisouly beaten. My mother and father had always wanted a dog but until that time we had lived in the city. My whole family piled into our old suburban and went to the shelter. At first my father wanted the german shepard but he was nippy and with a new born baby in the house that wasn't an option. My mother noticed Major and asked is she could see her. The minute Major was out of the kennel she was jumping and shaking with joy, she gave everyone kisses and was whining. My mother refused to let them take her away after that. She came home with us and never looked back.

Bio: Major is my first baby...err.. dog... She's saved my life many times. And I mean litereally saved my life. She is our defender and the biggest mooch. Major is very old, and we can see her slowly slowing down. We recently discivered that Major may have cancer. But the vet says the the procedures to take the tumors out to test them would be too much. She's in not pain and having a great old time playing "balnket sake", frisbee, "who's there" and "get the steak." She will be gone soon. And my family and I will miss her dearly.

Major ended up having to be to sleep on March 29th 2006 after a long, wonderful, amazing life.
Her life was cut short by cancer and arthritis.
My plea to you, BRING YOUR DOG TO THE VET AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 6 MONTHS!
