Arrival Story:
We adopted Baxter from a shelter in upstate New York. He was one of 4 pups from a mother that had been tied to her dog house 24/7, and in an area where it is not uncommon for the winter temps to dip to 30 below 0 this was sad. The owner, in his 80's, lived in a shack without even running water or electricity. The dogs-5 of them and one was about to give birth-were brought to a shelter. We were lucky-we brought our Golden Retriever into the shelter, tried her out with several dogs and she picked Baxter. He was the cutest little 9 week old furball with the biggest paws you ever saw!
Bio:
Baxter was the light of my life-my reason for getting up every day. Sadly he died of leukemia this morning at the age of 26 months. I will miss him terribly and it will take a long long time to heal the heartache he left. He was my boo bear-the best pup I ever had. I've cried a river this week.
