Update

It has been a long time since I have even looked at my page, let alone decided to blog. A lot has happened since I last wrote. I have been living with mommy for the past 2 years at the apt. that she rents. Mommy likes her job and will be going into her 3rd year of teaching in Aug.
We would like to get/live in a house sometime after the next year and are hoping to do that. Mommy has been saving up so when the time comes, we can get something nice, with a nice yard so that I can have lots of room to play.
I have found a nice state park where mommy and I take walks around a lake. I have also found another park where my friend Farley and I like to visit, swim, and play. I do not like to swim very much, even though I am a good swimmer. It is still fun to go and stand in the water sometimes. :)
Mommy and are are both doing ok. We love summer and are spending a lot of time together. We hope that everyone is doing well. We miss you all. Take care and God bless!

It's been a tough year...

So, it's been a long time since I wrote a journal entry and figured that I'd take a few minutes to do that. So much has happened that I don't know where to start.

As some of you may already know, mommy and I moved last Aug. so that mommy could take a new job as an elementary librarian. It was kind of different getting used to a new home, but after awhile, I fit in there just fine. The area is pretty nice and mommy takes me for walks around town and by the river. I reallly like those! And sometimes I even get to meet some of mommy's students and they all want to pet me! :)

I haven't been able to see Belle as much as I would like. (Mommy could only have one dog at the apt. when she moved). But, mommy is looking for another apt. where she can have both of us and in the meantime, Belle is staying with grandma. I still get to see Belle on the weekends, so I guess that's ok. But I miss her so much.

The year has been a little rough on both mommy and me. Back in Nov., my "daddy" left mommy for another woman. It was horrible...mommy and daddy had planned to get married this summer and it just broke my heart. I loved my daddy, he was my best friend in the whole world, and he never even said goodbye to me. Even now, when I hear a truck like his, I stop and wait for the person to get out to see if it is daddy, but it never is. It makes me sad. But mommy says it's ok and she gives me extra hugs and kisses.

Mommy has bought me a lot of toys since getting her new job. I especially love my loofa dogs (we call them Bobos)!!!! I am almost never found without one and I love to squeak them and fetch them all day long!

Well, I guess I'd better get going. Mommy and I are going to see Belle today and to plant flowers for Nana (mommy's grandma). In case I don't write again for awhile, I hope everyone is doing well. I miss you all on dogster, I just haven't had as much time to get on lately. Mommy and I hope life is treating you all well and that you're enjoying the sunshine! :)

My Birthday!

Today is my birthday and I can't believe that I am one year old already!! :) Mommy has been here to give me lots of treats, hugs, and kisses. She says she is buying me a toy sometime this week too. Later we are going for an extra long walk; I can hardly wait!!! I wish daddy could have been here, but he couldn't make it. But mommy said he has a special present for me when he comes to visit next time.

It's been a great birthday! Thanks to those who sent me b-day wishes and rosettes. I am honored that you remembered me. Well, I'd better run. I hear more cookies calling my name!

Teacher's Pet

So, mommy up and moved to a town in Bedford County about the middle of Aug. and has now started a job as a teacher. I'm supposed to be coming too, but for now I'm staying at my grandparent's until mommy is around more. (She's been working long hours everyday). She still comes to see me on the weekends, but I miss her dearly; and I know she misses me too.
She is going to try to have me down there within a couple weeks, so we'll see. Until then, I'll continue to have fun with my sister, Belle, and I'll drive my grandma crazy...BOL!
Mommy did give me a new rawhide treat this weekend, which I was excited about. Belle and I each had one and we traded them off as we chewed until they were finished. Mommy spent the afternoon playing with me as well. She entered my pic and a pic of daddy and Belle in the local fair this year. The one with Belle won 1st place, but my picture didn't get anything. Oh, well. Mommy says I'm always number one in her book! ;)
Well, I'd better get going. It's almost bed time and I'm tuckered out after my fun day. I'll bark at ya later!

Apartment Hunting a Success!

Yay!! I am so excited because my mommy has found an apt. where I will be allowed to stay with her when she moves for her new job. :) It took a lot of hunting, persuading, and extra looking, but it has all paid off!! :) Unfortunately, Belle will have to stay with mommy's parents and the other dogs, (only one dog could come with her to the apt.) but mommy says we will visit often so I still get to see her and play with her. If all goes well, mommy will like her new job as an elementary school librarian, and hopefully buy a house in a few years. Then Belle and Bear can join me and we can all be one big, happy family again! But for now, I am excited to be going with mommy. We will be moving in early-mid Aug. Exciting times!

Help!! My shelter may close! :(

Last night was an awful time for me. Mommy told me that she read an article in the paper about the humane society from where I was adopted. Apparently, they may have to shut their doors at the end of Jan. because the PSPCA has decided to close it, supposedly due to not having enough funds to keep it going. The news made me really sad.

I enjoyed the humane society...I mean, I like a home better, who wouldn't; but where would I have gone had there been no shelter? Maybe I would have stayed at the person's house who neglected me and lived in a horse trailer like my sister, Belle. Maybe I would have been malnurished and had my growth stunted like she did. The workers from the shelter who took me away treated me really well and helped me grow into the healthy, happy dog I am.
The people at the shelter take good care of the animals there. And they are the only shelter around the area, so I don't know what will happen if they close.
Mommy is trying to figure out what she can do and has been asking other dogsters for their opinions and suggestions concerning this topic. I hope that she will find a way to help keep the shelter open. It will be a sad, sad, day for all animals in the Clarion county and surrounding regions if the shelter closes it's doors for good. :(

Paws Club Photo contest

Ok, so yesterday I helped mommy in the garden. Well, today mom decided to take me with her again, but this time we not only planted, but I got my picture taken. She says it's for a photo contest for the Paws Club, so I did my best to look like I was helping. My hat kept falling off though. I think it was a little too big.
In all actuality, my help is more like the other pic of me laying by the flower garden, being good doggie company. It is true that laying out in the sun is one of my favorite things to do.
Right now mommy is back at her apt. As I wrote yesterday, Belle has come with us, and I am super excited!! We are both a little tired from the ride, but can't wait to run in the field tomorrow with daddy!!! And mommy gets off work by 7, so there should be plenty of daylight to go out and play with her then too. Yay!

Growling in the garden

Ok, so I wasn't actually growling...but I was helping mommy with flowers in the flower garden that she's working on for her Nana's (my great-grandma's) house. I wanted to help mommy dig, but she did most of the hard work. We've come to find out that Belle likes trying to eat the handle of the garden shovels; she's such a nut!
The past couple of days here at mommy's parents have been tons of fun! Lots of playing with Belle and the others and once again I've had furniture to lay on!!! I get mad because when I'm visiting at daddy's parent's they have too many rules and I'm not allowed on the furniture OR out of the den. Come on! They say I have too much hair, but I think it's beautiful.
Tomorrow evening we will be going back to mommy's apt. and when mommy works I will spend the days with daddy. Mommy says she is planning on taking Bella with us so that I have someone else to play and run with in the yard/field this time. She's also going to bring the frisbee! Yay!!! I'm excited!
Mommy and I are excited about a new group that I have joined called the Paws Club. They have all kinds of trivia and photo contests and lots of other cool dogs to bark with! My mentor, Daisy, invited me. She's one heck of a canine!!
Well, once again, it's getting late and mommy says it's time for potty and then off to bed. Summer is such a wonderful time of year!! Night all!
