My dad had stopped at a garage sale in the dead of winter. They had a box full of beagle puppies, both parents on site, but no papers for them. They were asking $20 a piece, and my dad couldn't resist. After he got Radar home, all poor Radar wanted to do was sleep. He wouldn't eat, but drank a lot. My parents were sad that something was wrong with him, so they took him to the vet, who confirmed that Radar, and probably all the other puppies, had a severe case of heart worms. They had eaten holes through out Radar's heart and lungs, and the vet told my parents he probably wouldn't make it. Boy, were they wrong! Being a natural bunny hunter, Radar always had his nose to the ground, but almost always picked up an upper respiratory infection. He was always sick around the same time I was, so we both knew how the other felt when we had to take yucky medicine!!
