Quick Bio:
-mutt-dog rescue

Likes:
More than anything, he liked to cuddle, but he also enjoyed going for walks and running in the school yard.

Pet-Peeves:
Small children, people who moved too fast, loud noises, yelling, rolled-up newspapers (he'd been pretty severely abused prior to coming to live with us).

Favorite Toy:
Jake wasn't a real big player, but he did enjoy chasing small balls around from time to time, and he enjoyed playing with my old cat, Buster.

Favorite Food:
Jake ate anything you gave him....and sometimes things you didn't want him to take;)

Favorite Walk:
To the school where he could run and try to herd the horses on the other side of the fence.

Best Tricks:
Sit pretty, shake, speak, sit.

Arrival Story:
One day in the spring of 1991, one of my older brothers went out for a walk. About a block from our home, he saw a little red dog on the corner, cowering as a group of teenagers threw rocks at him. Jason picked the little dog up and brought him home. He was dirty and wet (it had been a particularly rainy spring day), so our mom ordered us to take him up and give him a bath. His behavior after the bath made us all laugh (every post-bath ritual from then on was the same - he'd run full-tilt down the stairs, then run furious laps around the dining room table). When my dad got home from work, he said he'd take Jake to animal control the next day. The following day arrived much sooner than anyone had wanted, and our dad loaded the dog in the car and headed to animal control. But fate was on Jake's side; it was Veteran's Day and animal control was closed! He was such a good dog all that day and into the next that, come the following day when our dad wanted to take him to animal control again, our mom was on our side and told our dad that Jake wasn't going anywhere:) He was a loyal family member and a best friend for over 14 years. He had to be put to sleep in April, 2005.
