Arrival Story:
We found Cubby at the GRRR website as one of the adoptable Goldens. We submitted our application and got a call the very next day! We met Cubby soon after and both of us fell in love with him. He is just a beautiful dog and so sweet! Waiting that week before we could take him home was agony! Luckily, it was that Friday before we knew it and we brought him home. For more information on other adoptable Goldens, visit the GRRR website at: html.

We have forgotten what our lives were like before Cubby. He is absolutely the best dog around! He is so calm and laid back, but he does have a really fun playful side that comes out more and more. He's had a few rough spots healthwise, but is now the picture of good health. He has become our best friend!

Or something like that! We've had some super cold weather the past week and I love it! It's my favorite thing in the world to go outside and see a fresh blanket of snow covering the ground. It doesn't stay untouched for long, though! I like to make snow-dog angels and have snowball fights with mom and dad.

Life has been a little stressful lately for me. That little human that mom and dad call "Ethan" sure does make a lot of noise now that he's almost 9 months old. He's always dropping his toys on the ground and making a racket. I don't like noise very much. In fact, I've taken to just hanging out upstairs during the day while mom and Ethan play downstairs. It's much more quiet and I don't get so nervous. Mom makes sure that Ethan doesn't come into my space in their bedroom. That's my special place and I'm happy that she does that for me. They make sure to give me lots of extra attention, but it just isn't the same as before. One good thing about Ethan is that he does make quite a mess when he eats, and I am on cleanup duty after he's out of his highchair. Who knew that cheerios tasted so good?

I'm going to stay at Grandpa and Grandma's house this next weekend while Mom, Dad and Ethan go to Seatttle. I wish I could go with them, but I'm pretty sure that I would freak out in the cargo hold of an airplane! Better to just hang out in Grandpa and Grandma's big backyard with Daisy, that little thing they like to call a "Shih Tzu". I'm not too fond of her, either. In fact, little things like babies and small dogs just get on my nerves. I'm an old guy who has had a rough life before mom and dad adopted me. All I need is some peace and quiet! :o)

I can't believe how fast this year with my family has flown by! My one-year anniversary with my mom and dad was at the beginning of August. Can you believe that it has already been a year since I was rescued. Life is pretty busy over here... it makes the time go by so fast. Ethan is already almost 4 months old!

Mom is home full-time with me and Ethan now, so we do a lot of fun things everyday. The best is that we go for at least a 45 minute walk everyday, but sometimes we go for almost and hour and a half. It's so good to have my mom back to walking after all of her bedrest and the other stuff with Ethan. I admit, I put on some sympathy weight during her pregnancy... almost 20 pounds! Mom and dad have whipped me into shape, though, and I'm losing the weight! I think I was also a little depressed during mom's bedrest and right after she had the baby. Let's face it, I'm a momma's dog and my world was turned upside down when she couldn't take me for a walk or was too tired to pay a ton of attention to me. But we have adjusted and I think we are all feeling pretty good about life right now!

The weather has gotten cooler here in Denver, though it hasn't snowed yet, darnit. I really, really love the snow and can't wait to dip my nose in the cold frosty stuff! Mom hates being cold, so she really isn't too keen on winter, but dad and I can't wait!

I haven't decided what I will be for Halloween... any suggestions?

I didn't know what to expect when mom and dad said that they were bringing "Ethan" home two weeks ago. Is an "Ethan" a new chew toy? Maybe a trip to the dog park? Some fancy new doggy daycare? Imagine my surprise when mom and dad walked in the door with another tiny little human! But it didn't seem much like mom and dad, with all the noises that it was making. So this is the baby they keep talking about!

I don't really give much thought to this Ethan character. I'm curious, but I tend to keep my distance. He also wakes me up in the middle of the night, and everyone knows that a dog as handsome as myself needs a full 8 hours of beauty sleep.

The best part about this baby being home? Mommy is back to her old self (pretty much) and takes me on walks again!

On a non baby-related note, it has been really, REALLY hot here in Denver. Boy, was I miserable in our hot house! I didn't want to eat, I didn't want to go on walks and I certainly wasn't in the mood for playing with my toys. Thankfully, two guys came over yesterday and now there is cold air coming through the holes in wall... Mom and Dad call it "A/C" All that I know is that I am a much happier dog today!!!

Stay cool!! :o)
