Leave a bone for Maggie

Nicknames: Margaret, Maggot

Quick Bio:
 Likes: Howling at 3am.

Pet-Peeves: None that I can remember

Favorite Toy: Anything she could chew on - plastic flower pots, tennis balls, golf balls, etc.

Favorite Food: Lamb and rice formula

Favorite Walk: Around the block, where there's lot of other dog scents

Best Tricks: We always used to give her rawhide sticks for her to chew on. Instead, whenever we gave her one, she'd trot around the yard for 10 minutes and then bury it. Two weeks later, when the rawhide had gotten all soggy, she'd dig it up and THEN chew on it.

Arrival Story: Christmas 1989, I had just turned 7. We had taken in a big stray dog that summer. However, my dad decided he was too big to play with me, so we took him to the humane society. So, for Christmas, I asked for a puppy. On a rainy day a few days before Christmas, my parents went out to a beagle breeder who was selling puppies for $75 each. According to my parents, there were several puppies running around in a pen, but they kept to themselves. Maggie was the only one that separated herself from the pack and jumped up and got my dad's pants muddy. My parents bought her, tied a bow around her neck, bought a large gift bag with a picture of a dog on it, put her in the bag, put the bag on the front porch and then came in the front door claiming that Santa had come early. I think I peed my pants.

Bio: One of the most well-tempered dogs I have ever seen. Always greeted you with a lick and never bit anybody, even playfully. She never had puppies, but I got plenty of offers from people wanting to buy her and make her a breeding dog. Beat heartworms at 7-8 years old. Recovered from the removal of a massive mammary tumor at age 12. Died at home on November 20, 2003 at the age of 14.
