I HATE this stupid Dogster sometimes!! It wouldn't let me post a comment to the prior diary entry! GRRRRRRRRR!

I tried commenting last night but it wouldn't take my comment, so I'll try again this morning.

Mom has to get me some Prilosec to take with my prednisone so it dosn't upset my tummy.

Thank you everyone for all the get better/feel better wishes. With all the POTP, it will definitely help!

Orthopedic Specialist

Latest took me to see the orthopedic doctor today after I was yelping more often since last week. She didn't see anything on the x-rays that my normal vet sent her so she wanted to do an ultrasound today and then next would be a cervical MRI. (she wanted to do the ultrasound because it was an less invasive procedure.)(and of course less expensive mom said) The ultrasound was "normal and did not demonstrate any soft tissue abnormalities." I have to take prednisone for 10 days and have to be on my leash all the time when I go outside...meaning NO running when I go out to potty and no jumping on the couch or bed and restricted barking cause I have to run to go bark at people when they're passing by. We're still doing the slumber partying thing in the living room, so I'm definitely not doing any jumping on the big bed. Mom's supposed to call after the round of prednisone to let them know if there's any improvement. She alerted mom that the side effects --- which everyone knows about--is increased eating, increased drinking of water then of course increased peeing to get rid of the increased water consumption. OMD! (While I was getting my ultrasound, mom went to the CVS down the street from the doctor and got some peanut butter crackers for herself and she gave me some of them when we got in the car to go home, cause she said I was such a good girl today and even impressed the vet with how calm I was.) One day at a time is all we can do. Well DUH! mom, how can we cram more than one day into a 24-hour period? Sheesh! Moms...gotta love 'em!

I tried to add the update to the last entry, but I kept getting an error, so just decided to write a new one so ya'll would know what's what.

The vet just called and all of my blood work is "outstanding" to use her term. She said there were a few crystals in my urine, but unless I'm having other problems--frequent urination, urination in the house--there's nothing to worry about. Mom told her we slept in the lv rm last night and I just basically crashed. She did A LOT of manipulating to me and with the blood and urinalysis tests, I was wiped out. I'm still kind of sore today too. She told mom to keep me off the bed (the jumping to get in and out is bad all the way around), give me TLC, give the pain pills thru the weekend and we'll see how I do. The limping could all be from the cervical spine problems I have. She said the next thing would be to refer me to a specialist to get a 2nd opinion and then on to a MRI. Mom read the booklet she got with that "Platinum CJ" and the reviews from customers was very encouraging. We're starting me and Austin on that tonight with our evening meal.

Once again I want to thank each and every one of you for your kind words and strong POTP. We'll be updating you as we go along.

Vet Again...

I was limping real bad again yesterday after doing so good for awhile. Mom went and picked up some anti-inflammatory meds, then this morning she was going to help me out of bed so I wouldn't put my full weight on my leg/paw and I yelped when she put her hand under my arm. Then when I finally got down, I yelped again. Mom fed us immediately so she could get the medicine down me to help with the pain. Afterwards I was sitting next to her on the couch, and she went to put her arm around my shoulder and I yelped again. She tried again after a few hours when we came back inside, and I yelped. So mom called the vet immediately (around 8:30) to let them know she finally found out where the pain was --left shoulder so that if they needed to take more x-rays I'd have to get there long before 3:30 (they close at 6) to take the x-rays and have them developed and read. Its been 3 hours and haven't heard anything yet. Very needless to say, mom is super stressed out, just waiting and waiting.

Doo's mom here.....

Dropped Doo off at the vet this morning, she was limping REAL bad on her left front foot/leg. Had the right front x-rayed back in Nov, could it possibly have been the left one all along? Its so hard to tell...sometimes, she'll limp, then she'll act like nothing's wrong, this morning she was actually holding the foot up, she hadn't done that before. I pray to GOD that it isn't bone cancer like my 1st Weimaraner had with the same symptoms. I'm on pins and needles waiting for them to call me to come get her. Keep us in your prayers.

I'm in some pain...

As some of you might know, I went to the dentist this morning to have my teeth cleaned and some x-rays taken of my right front leg that had me limping on and off for the past week and a half. When mom called to check on me this afternoon, they told her I had to have 4 teeth removed and they took 6 x-rays of my leg. (They said I was worked on for like 2-1/2 hours! OMD!) Well, mom picked me up and they gave her the rundown on what I can and can't eat and gave me some pain medicine and told me to continue with the anti-inflammatory pills they gave me last week for my leg. One thing they DIDN'T tell mom was that there would be a BIG difference from the estimate of $580 that they gave her this morning. As a matter of fact it was a $600 BIG difference! When she went to pay the bill she almost passed out when it was $1100! OMD! OMD! OMD! ***thud*** (poor, poor mama) :o(

When we got home mom gave me some canned dog food (I was starvin' since I couldn't eat anything after 10 last night and had been gone all day from home and so it was over 24 hours since I had eaten) and one of my pain pills and I've just been lying on the couch moaning and groaning. I don't know which hurts worse my mouth or my leg where they probably twisted and turned it all around to get the x-rays they wanted. The x-rays showed nothing (mom was worried about bone cancer which her first Weimar, Dawn, had after she had been limping on her front leg for a few days), but I'm still limping so we're at a loss as to what's wrong with it.

Hopefully I'll be feelin' better in the morning and won't be moaning anymore. (Mom would have thought the pain pill would have kicked in by now.)

Christmas Cards...

Well its almost that time to send out the yearly Christmas cards to all our Dogster pals. We didn't get in on any of the Christmas card exchanges this year, but would love to give cards to all our pals and their pawrents. If we have your address or sent you a card last year, (we have all those addresses on the cards we kept) we'll be sending ya'll a card this year. If for some reason we don't have your address because you've moved or are new pals of ours, pawmail us and let us know what it is so we'll be sure and get a card out to you. :o)

Mama ordered some new spiffy cards with our pictures on it that we think you'll like.

Hope to hear from everybody.

We just found our our friend Mable has kidney displasia. The prognosis isn't good since there is no cure for it. Can you please go over and send some well wishes to her and her pawrents. Mable has been so sick most of her life from one thing or another. (Her mom said its from bad breeding by the breeder and he continues to sell bullies that get sick.)

Feel better soon Miss Mable and know we are here for you.
