2 PT sessions down, 4 to go.

I went for my first physical therapy session the day after Christmas. The PT tech took a video of me so mom could see me in the water treadmill. I also do the balance board and the big exercise balls where the tech stretches out my legs. I think its all working cause mom hasn't noticed me limping any more since Wed! Can you believe it--NO LIMPING after 13 months! YAY!! Mom said it was worth every penny for this end result.

The PT tech and my surgeon both suggested I keep up with accupuncture, so mom made appointments for me on 1/7 and 1/14, the earliest she could get me in. She's thinking that maybe just going once a month for maintenance will be the best course of action rather than going weekly or bi-weekly. She'll talk to the accupuncture vet and see what she recommends.

I want to thank everyone again for all the POTP, it sure did its work on me very successfully!

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that you all have a safe and Happy New Year!!

Love to you ALL

I'll be starting rehab next week...

Mom took me back to the surgical hosptial today to have me evaluated for rehab. The lady talked at length with mom and then took me in the back and put me in the water treadmill and put me on one of those big exercise balls and checked my range of motion of all 4 of my legs. She told mom I was kinda scared when she was trying to make my back legs stretch straight out, but she said other than that I did real good. I'm going to go twice a week, starting next Wed and then next Friday, and every Wed and Friday for 3 weeks. We bought a 6 session package and then we'll see how I'm doing. They also want mom to start walking me every day for 7 mins. (guess we'll both be benefiting from the walking and mom's benefit isn't for rehab but more for getting her to lose weight! BOL) They also suggested I go back for accupuncture because that'll work well with the surgery and the hydrotherapy rehab.

So that's the latest update on me. I'll be letting ya'll know how the rehab is helping me in a few weeks.

My staples are out!!

YAY! got my staples out! Sometime during the night I must have scratched and one of the staples broke in two, and mom noticed it this morning when we got up. So she took me to my regular vet to have them remove the broken one, and they said my incision looked really good and its the 10th day, would she like them to go ahead and remove the rest of them. (they can be removed anywhere between 10-14 days) So of course mom said yes. So now she doesn't have to take me clear across town on Monday to have them removed. My vet said I don't even have to take the Tramadol any more since I'm not in pain. I sure am glad its all over!! Now that my staples are out it'll make it easier for mom to scratch my chest since she doesn't want ME to do it. BOL

Thanks again everybody for all the POTP and well wishes you sent me during this time. POTP really helps alot. :)

I'm home...

Mom picked me up from the hospital today and its just her, me and Austin. No vet techs or doctors to be with us. Mom got a list of things to look for (panting, restless, whining and shaking)and if I do any of these things that means I'm in pain and to give me some pain medication. I'm not allowed to run or jump on anything, no stairs, no playing or rough housing. She can take me out for a walk for only 5 mins a day and can increase it to 10 mins after a few days. One of mom's friends bought me a lambskin bed to lay on and it is sooooo soft. I love it. We're supposed to watch my incision (its about 6" right down the front of my neck to chest area. Watch for redness which means its infected. And we're to call them back if it turns red. (They suggested mom take a picture of it every day to compare it from one day to the next.) They gave me some antibiotics I'm supposed to take every night along with my pain medications. Mom bought me another elevated dog dish/holder and the jury is still out on it. I ate supper from it but not to sure if I like it or not. Didn't like the one she bought me this summer and even tho this one is a few inches shorter, not sure I'm going to like it that much better. I'm not ever supposed to wear a collar again, only the harness that mom had gotten me at the request of my accupuncure doctor. They just put a slip leash under my arms and around my torso to help walk me out to mom's car and make sure I didn't jump getting in. Its pretty low to the ground, so I was o.k., but the vet tech was there really to ease mom's stress rather than mine. BOL

All in all I'm doing pretty good. I want to thank everyone for all the POTP sent to me before, during and after the surgery. It really has helped. You guyses are the best.

I'm having an MRI done tomorrow

I've been going to accupuncture for 6 months now and its not working any more. We started laser treatments week before last and they didn't work either. We've tried everything possible including holistic medication and I'm still limping after a year. I had blood work done last week and it came back normal as have all the x-rays they've done over the past year. So mom is taking me to have an MRI done tomorrow morning. There's no guarantee they'll even find anything, but hopefully they will so at least we'll have something to treat and work with.

I'll update you on what the MRI reveals.

Well, I heard mom on the phone making an appointment for me. ME?!! For what? Where am I going? Do I need to dress up? Do I get to wear one of my new collars? Come to find out, she made an appointment for me to get an MRI of my neck/cervical spine. WHAT??!! Seems every since I got off the prednisone, I've been limping again. I had stopped while I was taking the prednisone, but once I stopped it, it was limp city again. Mom says I've definitely mastered this limping I've been doing since November. The ortho doctor called mom on Tuesday and said that would be the next step. She's supposed to drop me off between 7:30 and 8:30 Monday morning and will probably pick me up later on that afternoon unless they need to do surgery and then I could be there for several days. They've got to put me out, so I can't have any food after 10:00 Sunday. NO. FOOD??? OMD!! Whats that mom? Mom says to quit being so dramatic, that I'll be fine. Yeah mom, but I'll be fine, but I'll be starving to death. :(

Switchable Collars

The other day on Barking Deals thru Dogster, they had a regular collar and then 2 velcro design strips where you can change up your collar depending on the season or holiday. They were only $12 so mom got each of us one. She got me a purple collar with a pink with black paw prints design strip and one with flowers and then she got Austin a black collar and a blue with black paw prints and one with a patriotic flag on it, for all those holidays where we can fly our flag. Mom's going to try, try being the definitive word here, to take pictures and post them on our pages. :)

Here's the website if you want to look at them or change up your collar too. (mom says it seems kinda easy to make, like just putting velcro on our normal collars and getting design strips of our own, but you know our mom isn't real crafty of a person.)

Reply we got from HQ about all the ERROR messages everybody- keeps getting!!!

Well, the other day, mom wrote HQ a letter asking what the major malfunction was that every time we try to post something in someone's diary (or even mine for that matter) or about a picture we would keep getting an ERROR message. We also told them that everybody else seems to be having the same problem. Here is their reply............

We use Defensio to keep spammers from posting stuff on our site via the comments feature and the Defensio system is having to learn how to distinguish "dogster speak" language from what spammers generally write. Also, if you post a comment, but don't see it right away, Defensio has probably blocked it from display until one of the staff can manually verify that the comment is not spam.

Over time, as we "teach" defensio that it's OK to allow cute Dogster-speak language, you will get the error less often and hopefully, not at all down the road. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience.

If you have a comment that keeps getting an error, send me the comment and a link to where you are trying to post and I'll take a look to see if I can figure out why it is getting blocked.

Woofs! & Tail Wags!

So there ya have it. Supposedly.
