We got a notice this morning from HQ saying that our membership is getting ready to expire in 13 days. Then it said..
It seems to me that way back almost 2 years ago, we saw the same notice when we started with a plus membership...Growlmy thinks it is a marketing ploy. Yes there are lots of fleas, but where else can you have so many pics to display with captions even and frames and stuff like that. We renewed...and if you don't renew you plus, pawlease stick around as a 'non-plus' to woof at your furends once in a while...too many woofs and meows are being silenced here, and that makes growlmy sad. Have a nice day! Woofs, wags & licks! I haven't heard anything about anything and ,despite my pleas for assistance, I still can't do a couple of things. If the price goes up, they are making a huge mistake. Maybe that's their point, so they can shut it down. Lots of people don't even bother coming here anymore, even some who were hugely involved not so long ago. I will be here as long as Dogster is available, price increase or no, because it's through this place that I have met some amazing people. That led me to FB where pupses' peepoles hang out. I'm there only because of the people I met here. Yes, ME, Wendy, not Zaidie! Please don't leave because of this, peepoles! If HQ doesn't 'get' Dogster, then it's our job to show them how it works. (Yes, we've been doing that by being here, but maybe we need to do more). Normally, I would apologize for venting/bentin', but I'm not going to this time. Wendy, don't ever apologize for venting. I understand what you mean, completely. I, too, have met a bunch of great people and pupses and have formed wonderful lifetime friendships. I am mailing them a check when I normally renew online. I wrote them a note saying that when I renew online it always charges me twice and then they have to fix their mistake. This way, I'm hoping to save myself some problems. We shall see. I also told them that should they go up on their prices alot of people would leave. So many have left since I joined 4 years ago. I told them, it used to be fun here on Dogster (We had IM to talk to all of our friends around the world, more interaction among the members). Now...not so much. (Too many problems that go unsolved, too many things taken away from us (zealies for contests), etc.) I'll be here with you and MFG and Growlmy and all my other pals. Doo and Austin like keeping up with their palses too. :o) I'll be here, too! I've met some of the most amazing people here, and I'm not leaving! When I look back at the crap year of 2010 with my mom's cancer diagnosis/surgery/chemo, I don't think I'd have stayed sane without my Dogster friends. Seriously. Whether it was here or on Facebook, anytime I was stressed/sad/freaking out, 9 times out of 10 it was a Dogster friend who immediately reached out and calmed me down. Words will NEVER express how grateful I am for that, so I'm here as long as Dogster is here. And I think MJF is right. I sort of remember that limited time thing every time I've renewed, and it's always been the same price! I wouldn't panic about price increase. We've been here since May 3rd 2006 and I remember then that the $19.95 was for "limited time". But I sure do agree with the rest of you. Dogster seems to be dieing. Groups and forums aren't getting much action. Seems like a handful of diehard fans hang in around here. I was on FB for about 8 minutes. Didn't like it. Felt nekkid. I feel safer on Dogster, living though my pets! Serious, you peeps are the only friends I have! Pathetic, I know. Don't you dare leave me! Hey, DooMom, you might check your Paypal to make sure it's not set for auto payment for your Plus account. You'd wind up paying twice Again! Aw, Zoe's Mom, Facebook really isn't that bad. Honest. You can set your privacy extremely strict. I have a lot of fun over there!! Maybe you should give it another try! WOW! Zoe's mom...you took the words right outta my mouth...exactly!! ~Cooper's mom~ Yeah, me thinks it's just a marketing ploy, as that tag line seems very familiar to me as well! You gotsta stay Doo (when I bark your name, I feel the name to bark Doo-Be-Doo-Be Doooooo!)!! Dogster has fleas, that's for sure, but it;s still pretty cool! it's been saying this forever :o) Happy woofs and tail wags, Jojo and sonja WWWWHHHHHHOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!! Maybe not jumping the gun is a thing to consider. It has said THAT "Time Limited"... for EVER.......... So... just forget that.... And yeahhhhhhhhh ... the more that defect to Yukbook (and their "security" is and continues to be CWAP.. (they were taken to Court again very recently) the bigger chance there will be of no site like THIS one. Fizzy... I am with you totally.. I have had more support.. and been able to give some hopefully.. than ANY other place. I am not on Yukbook.. nor will I ever be till their security and ethics take a VERY large upturn.. and so that probably means I wont ever be on it. I rant at HQ... I also say Thankyou when its needed....There is much that frustrates me here... BUT.. MUCH I am truely grateful for. I am 4500 mile from home.... basically have no family(that I care for) except the wonderful man I married in 2005 and I gave up all to be with here. I have almost zero access to friends "in the flesh" in America. THIS SITE... has much become a family of friends. As to the IM that was on here... it was ancient software.. that was grinding to a very big halt. It was impossible to continue to patch it up and keep it going. If any had cared to ask HQ at the time.. they did explain. It was virtually unservicable. It had to go before it totally fell apart. ALSO.. it didnt come up to the new Net standards applied ALL acrfoss the board. To make something new.. well anyone got a spare few hundred thousand to do the R & D and ghost running to code and make a new one ? Things simply are not as easy as we SO wish they were. Ok.. vent done..... just one of THOSE days I guess. Pam We here at the M&M's have fallen in love with Dogster and the people here. Though Dogster seems to be infested with fleas here lately we keep coming back. You guys have become our friends and we would be sad not to see you guys around. Now mind you Mommy has a facebook and because of Dogster has never made us pups a facebook. She sees it as why have a facebook account for us when we have Dogster. Yeah we would prefer if Dogster got onto a flea preventive program because, Mommy is having issues with our diaries hence why we haven't made any here lately. Sometimes she has problems commenting on things but, she feels that the people here are worth it for her. Going up on the price?? When I can't even upload photos yet??? Ridiculous! You don't have to pay a membership to have fun here so even if you don't renew Doo, you should still stay. We haven't been here much but we will stick around as long as Dogster is here. Dogster peeps and pups are like our extended family. We renewed our subscription this past summer. Even with the fleas and ticks that are plaging this place we still think this is the best place ever! I remember that I joined the Dog Channel and Dogster on the same day. Not being a "techie" I didn't know what to expect. Needless to say Dog Channel didn't last very long but I certainly was welcomed to Dogster with open arms as the dogs got pup pal requests and we joined different groups. Yes, I have made some of the most wonderful friends here at Dogster. I know some things come and go and people come and go but that is just the nature of the beast. I will say that I have written to Dogster about some things and have always received a prompt reply with a few zealies sent to me. I am over on FB and its been fun to put the human face with the pups and kits! When I didn't know how to do something there was always one of you willing to help learn something new. I am going to "hang" in here friends. We'll be here... but it is frustrating that it has been a month since the switch over and Dogster is still so flea-infested... We're not on the Book of Faces, either, although Momma has started a blog for me. We still write a lot more over here, with out pals. Doo, has your Momma heard from Ebby's Momma???-- she hasn't written in a while. We're worried about her... know she must be so sad because of Furby disappearing.... We haven't heard a thing from Ebby's Mom. Lil Bear wrote her a pawmail last week around Zaidie's party time, and she replied and said she was doing o.k., just sad. I saw she posted in Ceeley's diary yesterday about 9/11 on the Rainbow Bridge. That's all we've heard. :o( We love dogster and we aren't leavin! Our friends on dogster are now some of our best friends on facebook, so we will be furever grateful! We echo everything everybody has said so far, dogster folks are the bestest. I have seen that price of $19.95 for the 4 years I have had Dogster plus. Ebby's momma posted about 9/11 and also put Furby's picture up next to Wrinkles. It is implyied that Furby has crossed over to the Rainbow bridge although Ms. LuLu didn't come right out and say that and there is no entry in Furby's indicating what the outcome was. I think she is still hoping and praying that Furby will come home and so are we. Everyone should be paying attention to the press releases that SAY Media has been putting out. Apparently they are on a buying spree as they just aquired Remodelista and have hired some new employees. SAY Media is very voical about saying they are going to look to buy other sites that will help SAY Media achieve their goals. They have a bunch of job opening listed on their web site but I don't know how current those may be. It will take funds to continue the way that they are going so raising the membership fees seems like a thing that they might consider doing. When it was mooted that SAY were buying dogster.. a number of us voiced the opinions that all they were doing as a new company.. was buying with not alot of "love ' involved..... so nothing like this is surprising. Their intentions from the industry releases have always been transparent... a buying spree... However...... that "Time Limited"... Plus thing has been around for years. As to paying attention to them.. Ohhh yes... been doing that. Thanks Coco Rose ... it brings it to the attention of others as well...... Don't go, Doo :'( You is my bestest beautiful girl innit xxx Finny, love, I'm not going anywhere. I'll make mom go back to work if I need too.
